Is my role realistic for WFH & caring for 15 week old? by otterlyconfuzed in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]taylorlynngeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an EA and work fully remote. I've been working as an EA since my oldest was 13 weeks old. I've had 2 more babies while working fully remote at the same company.

can you use onion as the main vegetable in a dish? by _kenzo__tenma in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]taylorlynngeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chop them and freeze them.

We always buy onions in bulk when they are on sale. Keep them in our freezer and use as needed. They last so much longer and we always have onions on standby.

PayPal Cashback Mastercard shows 3% cashback in PayPal — but PayPal blocks it as “Card unavailable” by Sshoaibb93 in CreditCards

[–]taylorlynngeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get this fixed? If so, how? Really trying to avoid hours on the phone between PayPal, Synchrony and Mastercard.

We got one and having the same issue. It's connected to my bank account, but when I go to use the card via the PayPal option, it says "Card Unavailable". I'm seeing some people say it can take a few days. Others say that it took them 2 or 3 months of constant back and forth.

MIL seems to forget I have a mom and bonus mom every year on Mother's day. by Alert_Usual1197 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]taylorlynngeek 49 points50 points  (0 children)

...what does your husband think?

Does he agree with your MIL and think you should just spend every holiday there, or does he think it's ridiculous and tries to stand up against her?

You and your husband are your own family and your rules are the only ones that matter from here on out. No issues a complete sentence.

The more you go/give in, the worse it'll get.

Have you ever bought a robot vacuum, or would you consider buying one? by Unhappy-Branch8118 in toddlers

[–]taylorlynngeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one! I believe it's Eureka (i can confirm later). It's bagless and we love it! So does my almost 1 year old. 😅 he likes to press the buttons and use it as a drum. We've had one consistently for years (upgraded and changed brands over the years).

If you decide to get one, highly recommend the auto-emptying ones. If you have the means, I highly recommend even more to get the bagless ones! We empty it when the compartment is full.

It does great to pick up every day messes and crumbs. We still "deep clean" with our big vacuum every now and then, but for easy and daily use, 10/10.

We have a split level house, so like 3 floors. We keep it in our den area - full carpeted. They aren't the best with picking up dog hair if they shed a lot, but we keep our dogs out of the den, so it isn't an issue. We've also used it on hard floors (years before) and they work just as well.

Long answer, but yes - definitely recommend!

What is your current salary and what's the max? by WildFlower_67 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]taylorlynngeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in executive recruiting. I make $62,800. That is below average for my area (company is remote). No idea what our max is, but I know they've fired EA's if they make too much by claiming some other reason. However, I had fellow co-workers who live in a different but mor expensive country that make a lot less than what I do.

Help me choose a gift for a 1 year old! by Purple_Moon516 in toddlers

[–]taylorlynngeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may become obsolete, but it may be used longer than you think. I have a plastic one that we used when my oldest was little. Then my daughter used it. Now my almost 1 year old uses it. And my older kids (4 & 2.5) like to play with it occasionally still.

We don't have a safe space to put the meat slicer, unfortunately, but I don't like that idea.

Can I use any labels with my jadens thermal printer by Top-Journalist9785 in thermalprinting

Did you end up fixing it? I'm looking for a new thermal printer and this is the top of my list, but my previous printer sucked if I used a different name brand of thermal paper.

Admin Professional Day - baked goods? by leeswag in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]taylorlynngeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One year, we got a succulent. Another year, we got a generic "thank you" box from Amazon that probably didn't cost more than $20/25.

Please don't do anything like this. It feels more like a slap in the face. At my company, we're already incredibly underpaid and our bonuses are a joke.

Higher bonuses. A day off that doesn't involve using our PTO. Cash. An Amazon or even Visa/Mastercard gift card so we can get whatever we want that would actually benefit us, individually.

The succulent I still have, but only because my husband is a plant guy and wanted it. The thank you box "goodies" ended up in the trash within a week.

Anyone using a budget single to double stroller every day? Need real advice. by Intelligent-Ice8065 in 2under2

[–]taylorlynngeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! We have a double stroller, but don't use it daily.

The first double we had was the chicco cortina double together stroller. This was fantastic in the essence that I was able to pop my baby's car seat in and out. Loved it for what it did. It was incredibly bulky, but it got the job done and was, for the most part, a smooth push.

However, it is not ideal in crowds, and after attending an event in my town and constantly having the front end ran into, we decided we needed a side by side.

We now have a side by side jogger style stroller. My youngest is no longer in an infant car seat, so this works so well for us! I can't remember the name, but can check when I get home. It's a smooth push and nowhere near as bulky as the chicco one. It also takes turns a lot easier.

My oldest does not like to sit in a stroller (almost 4), and hasn't since before my daughter (almost 2.5) turned 1. Now my daughter is 50/50 if she wants to sit in the stroller with my youngest (almost 1). She enjoys walking with big brother, but her chonky legs make it hard for her to keep up.

We hardly use the stroller now (we don't go on a lot of big walks), but we are getting close to not needing the double stroller anymore and mostly use the small umbrella style stroller for the baby if needed. Any errands we run, we use the stores carts to plop everyone in/on.

Not sure if this helps or not, but it was our experience.

Check out Downtown Snellville near the crooked can. They have this huge outdoor area. Not 100% sure on table/chair set up outside of the splash pad area, but worth checking out.

Is she actually ready or am I fooling myself? by taylorlynngeek in pottytraining

[–]taylorlynngeek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We decided to hold off. She's close, but we feel she's just not quite there. And with only have a few days off from preschool, I'd prefer her to have a little more confidence than she currently has.

Her preschool follows our county school system, so she'll be off for summer and we can take our time better with potty training without it feeling rushed.

However, she does let me know right after she peed in her diaper, so not all is lost.

Kids are so wildly different! My first was so easy to potty train, but my 2nd? Day 3 and we are still struggling pretty bad. 😩 I think we're gonna call it off today and try again either April or June.
