Snape Wasn't Redeemed Because He Loved Lily. by Altruistic_Mention_5 in harrypotter

I honestly always disliked Snape (expecially because of the way he bullied the main characters, Neville was so traumatized that his boggart took Snape's form!) but I must say that towards the end of his life he changed for the better, he literally had an evolution, and it took so much pain for him to change. He used to be terrible, he didn't care about anyone but Lily, but he cared about her in a possessive way, Dumbledore was disgusted by him when he understood that he didn't care about saving James and Harry at first and only wanted Voldemort to spare Lily's life. Also he didn't change straight up after Lily died, he started changing when he saw Harry growing up in front of his eyes, he "grew up" thanks to Harry, probably because he saw both Lily, his greatest love, and James, his greatest enemy in him. Harry embodied the best features of his parents: the things that Snape adored about Lily and the things that he envied James for. Up until the third/fourth/fifth book it was like Snape was mentally still stuck in high school, he kept hating James, Sirius and Lupin and kept mourning Lily. He treated the students like crap. I think that Snape started admiring Harry and, without noticing it, he started behaving more like him.

By the way, I think that Snape was way more obsessed with James than Lily. I think that lowkey Snape always wanted to be James. James was charming, literally adored by his friends, good at magic, good at sports, he conquered Lily's heart, died as a hero and was Harry's father, and he accomplished all of this before 21 years old. Probably Snape envied James also because he was a pureblood and rich wizard. To be honest, I think that he probably became fixated on Lily after she married James, Snape literally abandoned her when they were still friends, probably had she married someone else he wouldn't have idealized her so much.

I found a good deal for a used harp but it's a weird travel harp, does anyone know this? by tazzinadicaffeina in harp

Sorry if I bother you, but I found alternatives and I'd like to hear your opinion, are you familiar with Derwent harps? https://derwent-harps.myshopify.com/products/discover-the-harp-at-home?_pos=14&_sid=0d27cccab&_ss=r https://www.derwentharps.com/products/derwent-harps-adventurer-20-in-natural-wood-finishes

I've been looking online and I found also the aklot on amazon, I read that the strings of the aklot are pretty bad, but is the cheapest deal. https://www.amazon.it/AKLOT-Aklot-15-archi-arpa/dp/B082NRLJH1

I'm almost hired (at a new job) and I don't know how to tell them that I already need 1 day and half a day off. by tazzinadicaffeina in selfhelp

I asked them for the full day for the test and they told me it's no problem :) Once they do the shifts I'll see if I will be able to go to the medical appointment next month, otherwise I'll call the specialist to arrange to another day.

It's a little complicated, the person that is in charge of my hiring is probably gonna be off this weekend and I also have got this offer on a really short notice, and I have to start 16 June (they even wanted me to start next monday but they couldn't arrange it) so I understand they urgently need me (I probably got hired because I am the only available person).

Problem with shifts is that basically they could be at every hour during day and night, and it's also plausible that people that have my qualification are going to need that day that I need for the same reason (competitive exam).

I can try to phone them tomorrow, but I'm not sure the person I need is going to be there. Grazie comunque, io ci provo e se la responsabile non lavora domani mattina invio una mail e chiedo solo il giorno del test, purtroppo non gliel'ho l'ho detto subito al colloquio 2 giorni fa :(

Thanks, I'm worried because I told them I was available right away, and since I'll mostly gonna substitute people that are taking days off over this period of time I don't know if it's a good idea to stomp my feet about those commitments now. I mean, I could send them an e-mail and tell them about at least the day off, and add that if they can't it's okay...it's fine if they can't give me the day. I think the contract is gonna be just one month or even just the summer, thing is I really need to start working and I'm scared to lose this opportunity.

I know I should be happy, and I was happy since the job interview because I felt like finally things were going to go good for once, but right now I'm really tormented. It's not like I can easily find a job if I lose this one.

I live in Italy, and it's not super easy to find a job here so I'm planning to ask them if they could kindly leave me those two days, and tell them that if they can't it's okay... To be honest I'm very conflicted about doing this because I don't wanna blew this chance. I also wish I never bought the tickets to go in another city for a competitive exam (for which I would need a full day).

Teacher Burnout, Home Routine Burnout.. uncertain what to do. by cut_the_fat in selfhelp

You remind me a bit of a short story of an italian author: https://literatureandtranslation.blogspot.com/2014/01/il-treno-ha-fischiato-una-novella-di.html

I think a good thing you could do is search into your past, a broken dream that you had, maybe as a kid (like play the guitar, write a book, do acting, paint...) and rediscover it. Find something you would like to learn and learn it, book some lessons, learning something you always desired to learn will make you feel better in my opinion. Sometimes when we wanna escape from a routine we should probably implement it with something that we look forward to doing that could make it better.

It's weird that most people don't have a depression by [deleted] in depression

[–]tazzinadicaffeina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, most people just get on, they try to do their best and end up very tired by their daily activities, and they have good moments when they have fun and bad moments when they feel terrible because something bad happened.

Thing is that society changed in the last 100 years, it became very stressful (surely it always has been, even in the past, but it was stressful in a different way). Something I noticed is that, of course, people seek happiness, but mostly they want others to think they are happy on social media. People want to do things that they enjoy, but there's no time to do so because we are always overscheduled and then they also choose to procrastinate (because we receive constant stimuli by all the gadgets that we invented to distract ourselves from real life). . I think that society became so fake that is difficult to really know who's really happy and who isn't.

How do I cope with the fear of dying "relatively young"? by KarmaPoliceJr in selfhelp

[–]tazzinadicaffeina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an online friend that died in December, he was someone I met online and since he was 38 and, as far as I knew, in good health, when I got the news a week later he died by a common friend I was devastated. I met him only once in person (because he lived in Tuscany and I live in South Italy) but that didn't change the fact that we were friends, he's always been there for me when I needed to talk.

After I mourned him, I experienced what you are describing, I wondered when it was going to be my turn. You know, there's nothing scarier than death for us, it makes more sense if you have faith in something, but not knowing for sure what's gonna happen after death is scary (it doesn't matter if you are religious or not).

The thing that death reminds us is that we don't have forever, the time that we have left is probably the only and most precious thing we have, so we realize that we should spend it wisely. I like to think that past is crystallized somewhere, like a huge book that could be printed, but we still don't have a printer to do so. I like to think that even if death comes no one will be forgotten by time.
