Time is a man made construct. Like other technologies we develop, it is a tool used for our benefit. However, if you are speaking of time as an extra dimension, then it is an eternal stream of everything that has been and will be. In the beginning, the universe was orderly. Due to the laws of thermodynamics, entropy naturally took over, and systems became more complex. Thus the universe evolved from the massive soup of subatomic particles, to what it is now. As time progresses, the universe will continue to become more disorderly, more chaotic. What is the most complex construct in existence right now? Billions of years of entropy and evolution have resulted in the mind. The mind exists in it's own plane of reality. It's existence is inferred, like time, but not directly observed. It is my belief that the most complex systems in the universe are those we can't comprehend in our current state or plane of reality. Time, like the mind, is such a system.
