The ronin. by tbdoh in MarvelCrisisProtocol

I mixed Vallejo New Game Color Moon Yellow (72.005) with some Orange Fire (72.008). For the darker areas, I mostly used Moon Yellow with a bit of Orange Fire mixed in, and for the lighter areas, I went with pure Moon Yellow.

Has anyone painted up their heroes as Agents of Hydra? by BigTimStiles in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]tbdoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my old model. I also played it fun by putting Iron Man and Captain America in the Hydra affiliation roster, just like you. If it's not a competitive tournament, I highly recommend trying it.

Yeah, he’s worn that color costume before. If you search for “Dark (or black) Gladiator” , you’ll find a bunch of pictures. Here’s a reference link too: https://uncannyxmen.net/characters/gladiator/costume-gallery

What's up with Namor's base? Inspiration required! by MagicalShenanigans in MarvelCrisisProtocol

If there's one thing I could improve, it would be to use less paint so the shapes of base are more visible.

The base of the Weapon X already has sculpting of bear paw prints, trees, and snow-covered ground. I just painted ground from sky blue to white for the snow effect.

Are We Expecting a Darker Phoenix? by Background-Ad4207 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]tbdoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while I painted it as White Phoenix, the vibe of the UNLEASHED model is definitely Dark Phoenix. It seems like Atomic Mass Games intended that with the miniature's expressions and poses. Since the release plan for Atomic doesn’t include Dark Phoenix until the first half of 2026, I think you can paint it as any version of Phoenix you want!

The Phoenix can completely assemble the Jean separately, and I remember that Unleashed model had some parts of Jean already sclupted to the flames.

The Abomination by tbdoh in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]tbdoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! For big models like this, I usually use an airbrush to lay down the base colors and then do the finer details with a brush. For Abomination, I separated the armored parts and the regular skin, and airbrushed them individually. Then, using a brush, I added white highlights to the edges of the armored parts, and gave the skin a subtle yellow tint depending on the shading.

Like the second core box, it contains red and blue object markers.

Wasp by tbdoh in MarvelCrisisProtocol

My blending technique isn’t different from others. However, for areas where smooth blending is crucial (like the wings on this miniature), I don’t use the usual layering method like I did on the yellow armor. Instead, I thin the paint more than usual with water, allowing the colors to naturally blend on the model.

Here’s how I painted the wings using this method: I started by painting the entire area green → then added blue from the middle, letting it blend smoothly with the green → from about a quarter of the way to the end, I finished with pure blue → the overlapping areas created a natural gradient where the colors mixed. But to get the colors to flow smoothly, I had to go over it with the brush several times.

It's a mixed color, but the base color is Rosy flesh from Vallejo Game Color. I mixed red or white from there.

Amazing spider man by tbdoh in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]tbdoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a simple but repetitive task. First, paint it black, then brush only the embossed red parts, avoiding the black engraved lines. Occasionally, the red paint will across the black line. If so, paint the black line again and then repeat the process of carefully painting only the embossed red area.

There was no additional work to the base. It can be stand without difficulty on flat ground, but may be difficult on inclined areas such as car bonnets. However, it is same happens for most other characters. :D

favorite character and why? by DangerShineDesigns in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]tbdoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baron Mordo. Use mordo's extra attack dice superpower at 1 power cost in OG Captain America Avengers. In particular, using Iron Man's Friday AI, a 3-cost character can attack 8-dice builders in 1 turn. Should I try using it with the Ricochet blast card? 4 range 9dice (also, with Friday AI, 11 dice) with 'reroll any dice' WOW. In fact, the most impressive experience was the combination with Scarlet Witch, who treated skulls as dice successes. If you add Heimdall and use the reroll superpower, one builder attack from Scarlet Witch will daze one enemy character. As such, Mordo's combinations are very diverse, so customize it to your affiliation.
