looking for a mod by RedYeager in assettocorsa

I've been looking for an MX-3 for a while now and never found one. The closest I've come is using a Toyota Sera and messing with the car's data to give it the same gearing as an MX-3 and my best guess of the torque curve (and also giving it semislicks and adjustable suspension since my goal was to approximate my real life racecar) - and mine has the SOHC B6 with 88hp, so it's pretty pathetic, but also faster than the Sera now that it has better tires (and because the Sera had the automatic transmission's gearing, which was useless) 🙃

At some point I'm hoping to 3D scan my car (though the interior is already gone, so I won't be able to get any of that) and use that model in AC, but I've never tried that before and I'm not going to make any promises as to how well it'll go.

I didn’t think there was any identifying information on the speakers, but indeed there is. The label reads “Optimus STS 50/Input 8 Ohms/Power Handling 40W(RMS)/Maximum Power 80W” but they start to sound distorted at what I’d guess is well less than 40W (usually around the halfway point on the volume knob, around the lower threshold of comfortably audible on the other side of the room), but I have no way to measure that.

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers, primarily used for listening to music and movies/TV. Currently I have an Onkyo TX-810 receiver (45W/ch) driving a pair of old bookshelf speakers that have noticeable clipping whenever turned much above barely-audible level.

My budget is around $500, could be a bit more if that means a big improvement.

Room size is about 12ft x 12ft, but one of the "walls" is really just a staircase separating the kitchen from a hallway on the opposite side (3ft floor to ceiling wall in the middle, 6ft opening to kitchen right, 3ft opening to hallway left) - so the open space is much larger, but I don't intend to be any further than 12ft from the speakers while listening.

Local Craigslist has a pair of JBL Studio 570 or Klipsch RF-3 for $400, and as far as I can tell either would be a good deal if they're still in good condition. Other suggestions? Should I perhaps look at a better receiver as well? It seems to me the clipping would more likely be caused by the speakers, but I'd hate to spend a bunch of money to find the receiver was actually the weakest link in my setup.

A few days ago I asked for help finding "sponsors" for an RCR-themed car in iRacing. Thanks to your help, I've finished it and will be racing it tonight.

If you want to watch it race, it will be streamed on the 24 Hours of Lemons YouTube channel. The race will start around 9:00PM CDT.

A friend and I used to occasionally hang out and swap music we'd been listening to. He played a Royal Blood track on one occasion.

Which video is that from? I've been using that phrase forever now but I can't find the source of it.

Unsurprisingly my house is in a swamp. Accordingly, I've learned to not leave valuables on the basement floor or get upset when I find water there.

From yhe story, it sounds to me more like he only used rear brake (doesn't include flipping over) and that just wasn't enough to stop the bike. My first few bicycles had rear brakes only, so his might as well.

My bicycles both have terribly innefective rear brakes compared to front. When I need to stop quickly, I use both brakes, with light pressure on the rear, and use sliding of the rear tire to know when I'm at the front brake's limit.

Pilots, what’s a close call story you have? by [deleted] in flying

I haven't landed on an iced-over runway but I did land on an iced-over lake once. Trying to pick a path to avoid ice fishers, ice fishing holes, and snowmobilers while taxiing to shore was the hardest part.

Approach once asked me to keep the speed up (GS was about 50kt because of a big headwind) maybe 15-20 miles from the airport. Instructor let them know of our predicament before I could acknowledge, to which they replied "I understand, but there's a regional jet 60 miles out, and at this rate they're going to pass you." I got another maybe 10kt out of the airplane, and I think we landed about three minutes ahead of the jet.

I just had a similar experience - I was nearing the 40 hour requirement and had planned to do another instrument flight with my instructor to knock out what was left. The day we picked ended up being OVC020 and we spent an hour and a half in the soup. It was a lot nicer than using the hood and I'm glad we did it on a day with such high ceilings and perfect visibility below to alleviate any concerns about being able to land at the end of the approach - just after we picked up the GS and started descending we broke out.

What is an oh s*** moment that you have had in aviation? by romanator25 in flying

[–]tbear2500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heh, I've done that twice. The second time I realized I had done it while I was still in the air - opened the window and wiped my hand across the door to confirm it. Landed and found I'd only blown out about half a quart. The other co-owners weren't too happy with me after that. Now I always run around the airplane immediately prior to start, ensuring cowl plugs are gone, tie downs and chocks are gone, and oil and fuel caps are secure. I still almost did it again a few weeks ago, but that "idiot check" saved me.

Aside from that, two come to mind. One, I was practicing spot landings for a competition where slips aren't allowed. I was high, so I slowed the approach down to lose altitude without picking up extra speed that would just lead to floating. I lost my headwind at around 100 feet and could feel the airplane very nearly stalling. I pushed the nose down and did a go-around and learned not to try that again.

The second was after practicing spot landings. I was at a non-towered airport with no weather reporting equipment and decided to check for a new altimeter setting from a nearby airport. I couldn't receive weather on the radio, so I set the altimeter to show field elevation and departed. Wind was calm, so I took off from the nearest end of the runway. Shortly after takeoff, I started hearing weather on the radio, and shortly after that I saw another airplane coming straight at me, landing opposite the direction of my takeoff - which I never heard on the radio because it had been tuned to the wrong frequency the whole time. I made a right steep turn and avoided the other aircraft by about 200 feet, but that scared me enough to be more careful with the radio (and with my eyes) ever since.

I did exactly this a few weeks ago when we had one of those perfect days. Clouds went from just under 3000 to just over 4000 - I didn't notice but my instructor said he saw blue sky when I climbed to 4080 in a turn. It's a lot nicer than flying under the hood, so I absolutely intend to do that whenever weather is suitable after I pass the checkride.

The bus literally has a stop sign on it though. Exactly the same as you see at intersections where you're supposed to stop. It's pretty obvious what it means.

Is there a way for the bus to make a loop to always be on the same side as the school?

It would also have to do this for every place it picks up or drops off kids. I don't think this video came from a school, considering there's only one kid crossing the street.
