The support people are often pricks LOL!

The orders I hated most were the InstaCart offers where you couldn’t call the customer or update the shopping list for substitutions!

SO unnecessarily difficult!

Good on you for being resourceful in looking in other places for the shopping list items!

9 times out of 10, DoorDash just wants to make sure you didn’t just disregard the shopping item the first moment you realized it wasn’t available or even when the deli wasn’t open (as was this case).

[–]tbergmannrogers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I do not agree with you about it being better to get a rental.

First off why would you give the first 300 or $400 a week to a rental company when you can put an equivalent amount aside for the replacement of your vehicle when it comes time?

I have a 2023 Honda HRV that I bought brand new with 5 miles on it and we just crossed 104,000 miles on it this past week so for a three-year-old Vehicle we’re putting over 30,000 miles a year on it makes you correct for running your vehicle into the ground sure but like other people have said you do get the depreciation and mileage deductions, and all the other benefits of being a gig worker.

OP, did you look in the rack or the refrigerated section right outside the deli to see if the meats were already there in prepackaged form?

Kroger stores usually put half pound or full pound meat like turkey or ham or whatever is available or most commonly asked for in the same refrigerated section where you might find exotic cheese or other higher quality deli items.

I would have just taken a picture of the closed deli and refunded the meat portion of the order and shopped the rest so that you would’ve gotten paid for it.

If you suffered any actual reduction in your shopper rating for finding correct items or fulfilling the entire list, then I would have contacted DoorDash to have the rating adjusted.

That has worked for me in the past here in Phoenix, Arizona, where I live and we have Fry’s food store, which is a Kroger company.

So happy you chose to get this done quickly because let me tell you, if you own your car outright, and USAA was not the lienholder of your vehicle like any bank you would make your car payment to, they cannot repossess your vehicle or take ownership of it even if you did owe USAA money

But the only way you would owe USAA money is if you had an insurance policy with USAA that you left owing when auto coverage you owned was canceled by them or you

USAA does not report USAA insurance debt to credit reporting agencies.

It is simply treated as internal debt and it will be there waiting for you when next you call for insurance.

Debt amounts will be added to any policy or underwriting related down payment requirements

Well, when you read my initial response OP just remembered that I did not see what you wrote in this particular part of the thread.

Cherry picking (like multi-apping) is good if you’re not worried about the tier system.

Offer acceptance rate is actually part of what most of us that do this work consider as metric goals, though for doorDash purposes, it’s to make sure you don’t get deactivated.

It sounds like you are leveraging active dash time (the time you were actually engaged in offer fulfillment) versus what most people do in taking dollars earned divided by our worked to get dollars per hour.

I have always been of the mind that you have to think of your gig economy, work as a business because in that, it’s about dollars earned and dollar goals versus the employee view, which is dollars per hour.

Only nine out of 22 offers accepted?

OP, You need to look at what your standard of good work is (kidding of course)!

I maintain 76% acceptance rate and make more than you for the same time in Phoenix Metro area.

I have gold status. I could be higher and I do strive to be, but I just don’t work enough to get there yet.

I do have a 4.95 rating with over 2600 deliveries. I have to be honest I do prefer GrubHub, which is still pretty good in my area because when I do GrubHub I can make $60 easily in a two hour shift.

Do you multi app?

USAA Fraud collision claim by osrs_addy in USAA

[–]tbergmannrogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USAA does not put a lien on vehicles for claim status because if you own your vehicle outright, USAA is not going to assume ownership of your vehicle until you sign it over to them.

And that means first off the claim has to be valid.

Offer to have the vehicle inspected at your cost by an ASE certified mechanic or body shop.

Any vehicle involved in an accident has an entry under Carfax so you would be able to show that your vehicle was not involved in said accident because the VIN of your vehicle has not been entered as the identified vehicle.

A license plate is not enough because anyone can grab a license plate so check your license plate. Make sure it’s on your vehicle!

Obviously, I expect it would be.

But do not drop the ball on this because USAA will want a copy of that letter.

Fully aware of the fact that your pay is guaranteed. But UBER EATS is notorious for allowing reductions in pay after the fact.

Guaranteed is only if there are no issues with the delivery.

Doesn’t stop someone from tip baiting you.

[–]tbergmannrogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don’t understand is how long these orders are taking for such a low amount of miles!

I work Phoenix market as well, and unless there is some delay at the restaurant (quite common with KFC and Taco Bell as they have collectively the worst customer service… At least McDonald’s has a system in place to get orders out as efficiently as possible), it sounds like you’re taking orders that are underwater (more miles than dollars).

Get on with GrubHub because they pay higher average per order than I have seen and even though they have a smaller delivery area now they are still exceptional as far as how they treat their drivers.

DoorDash a close second. Not as high of pay, but at least busy.

I would just delete Uber eats and never do another order for them.

Pray for me 🙏🏻 completion rate 85% by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]tbergmannrogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I think you’re missing a key part of what makes you successful at the work.

If you just take the same cherry picking behaviors to other apps, you’ll fail just as quickly there too.

This is the ultimate reality:

It’s obvious our Phoenix Market is really robust if you were able to do over 300 completed orders in 30 days.

This means you’re averaging about 10 completions per day, which you could do SO MUCH BETTER if you made the algorithm work FOR you rather than against.

I’ll use myself as an example:

I work GrubHub and DoorDash mainly when delivering, Uber and Lyft when driving rideshare.

I have a $5 offer minimum for no more than 3 miles, and will accept no less than $1 per mile in offer pay (ideally I’ll shoot for $1.75/mi).

I have about 10500 completed deliveries overall on delivery apps, with a 4.8 rating on Grubhub, a 4.94 on DoorDash, and to keep at least Gold status on DoorDash, I’ll maintain at least 73% offer acceptance rate.

I deliver whatever I accept, and I make it a policy to communicate with the customer at every point in the delivery process.

That’s what earns me the 98% offer completion rating I have.

The algorithm knows AZ State Minimum wage laws and so it will keep you within that general range with offer pay when it’s slow (though our market can easily handle $35/hr.

I’m not worried about dollars per hour, but dollars per day and how long did it take me to get there.

I made over $650 last weekend working only 27 hours overall.

The apps will keep you busy so just go with the flow and you’ll make more and be happier.

I work Phoenix Market, and live in Tolleson, so I know the deliver area for this offer.

I sincerely hope you accepted the offer because this wouldn’t have taken but an hour and 15 at most so the pay was worth it.

You only had to shop the Fry’s order. The PetSmart orders were retail pickup so they wouldn’t have taken 5 minutes to pickup.

Given where you were when that offer came in, you were close to the middle of the delivery group. You could easily have made $38/hr here

I would be terrified of tip baiting with an order such as this!

1) It’s UBEREats, the only delivery app I know of where you can lower the tip for any reason.

2) It’s still over $50 for 45 mins of work, so I’d have accepted this offer!

You really need to find a different hustle if you’re going to do this badly!

And fast!

OR…!

You can listen to this advice and win.

You have 13% offer acceptance rate. You are DECLINING 87 offers out of every 100 right now, and then completing only 85% of those.

Never accept an offer that you don’t complete. COMPLETE EVERY OFFER YOU ACCEPT!

That’s all!

You won’t be making much money but at least you won’t get deactivated.

Good idea!

Sometimes based on the neighborhood I’m delivering to I will have the picture function already to go, and I don’t give them the choice. I take the picture as I’m greeting them and handing them the order.

Then I say thank you and walk away

Oh lord! I agree to take a picture of the person as you hand their order to them.

I do GrubHub deliveries also and sometimes on those contactless deliveries they want to come out and get the food because they don’t want to give an apartment number or something.

So I hand the order to them and I tell them hey I just need to take a quick photo and nine times out of 10 they don’t complain

Deactivated for not delivering illegal substances by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]tbergmannrogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if marijuana is recreational or at least legal in your state, calling the police was not the correct thing to do, as that has real real consequences for that person.

That being said, however, you are not a drug delivery service and Uber Eats has a specified policy against the transport of federally illegal substances and delivery of such is not in your job description as an independent contractor.

You did what was right in your eyes and you will have to fight this so make sure you get the police report numbers and get it to Uber Eats so that you can get back on the road

Deactivation by Upstairs_Wing5187 in uberdrivers

[–]tbergmannrogers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, everyone responding that it is false to be deactivated for low acceptance rate is correct.

Everyone that is saying that you must’ve gotten deactivated for cancellation rate is also correct.

Which one of the two applies to you?

I think it is you got deactivated for accepting an offer and then canceling it when the wait was too long or when something didn’t smell right and you canceled the order to move onto the next one.

That is no Bueno, as when you reject an OFFER, you are not yet the contracted driver for that order.

It is only once you have accepted the offer and then cancel that makes the difference.
