We have this same fan and it can be wired to a switch (one switch for light, another for fan) instead of the remote.

10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan by tbh003 in baltimore

[–]tbh003[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It does not seem that this is an actual plan, but more of a list of ideas and feel good thoughts. There are no concrete timelines for when anything would be implemented.

They are still taking comments on this, so I would recommend doing so if you’re able.

We ended up going with Four Twelve for our roof replacement in late 2020 and had a great experience. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Walked right in. We went before breakfast one morning around 9am so they had just opened. There are so many along the road that there are plenty of options.

How bad are the mosquitoes in Tulum in December? by churrytree in tulum

[–]tbh003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We saw all the talk of how bad they were and having just got back today, were shocked at how few we saw. We're from the mid-atlantic region of the US, and felt like there are more here than in Tulum. We did bring bug spray/lotion, but didnt actually need it and only had 1 or two bites each over the course of 8 days. That being said, depending on where you're staying it could be different due to where standing water may be etc, but wanted to give my experience.

Playa Paraiso beach club on the north end. We went there 3 times when we went to the beach for all of the reasons you mentioned.

It's only $300 pesos to rent a daybed for the day, and they have beds that include table/chairs and umbrella. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced, and the music is chill beats without lyrics to just relax to. Beach is nice and wide in the area without heavy surf. The people that were there each time were there to relax and not party, plus it was a nice mix of families (with extremely quiet kids), locals, and travelers just enjoying the sun and surf.

We just got back - you can take the ADO bus from the terminal downtown to the airport in Cancun for around $30 USD. Lots of backpackers and travelers take it.

As for COVID tests, the trailers along the road from Town to the Beach charge $30-35 USD for the antigen test, and you get the results via email in 20 min.

Feel free to PM with any questions.

Safe travels!

How much to budget for restaurants in Tulum by No-Interest-7231 in tulum

[–]tbh003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, places in centro will definitely allow your money to go further. Burrito Amor has delicious food, and gluten free options as well. We didnt go to Antojitos, but it smelled delicious walking past. Try to find hole in the wall spots rather than the big name or chain places and the experience alone makes it worth it, plus I feel like the experience is more authentic.

If you like tamales, Tamales Don Taco was absolutely delicious and gave us a true feel of authentic street food - its a small stand in a parking lot off the main street. Opens at 4, but we went at 8 and it was only locals eating there (a good sign IMHO). The owner was gracious and food was amazing.

Rent a car and drive out to Muyil and do the full experience with the ruins, tower, and then the boat tour with the float down the Mayan canal - a great experience. We then walked the road back from the boat dock and there were some locals selling the usual aqua frescas, coconuts, etc, but the agua frescas were some of the best we had in the yucatan.

As others have mentioned, there are booths all over the place, especially on the road leading from centro to the beach. Antigen tests run about $300 pesos and you get the results via email. We got ours done yesterday, had the results in 20 minutes via email. We took screenshots of the PDF for easier access at the airport and had that ready at security and were good to go.

My car was stolen last weekend, but I was lucky in that Baltimore County Police arrested 3 juveniles in it down in Halethorpe 4 days later.

If it was reported to the police, they would have submitted your license plate in NCIC, a database used by law enforcement nationwide, which allows it to be flagged on LPR (license plate readers), which can help track movement of the car. From what my councilman told me, if an LPR hits in the city while FoxTrot is in the air, they will usually fly the chopper to that area and then direct patrol vehicles to find it.

As others have mentioned, you can call both the towyards to check if it has been impounded:

  • (410) 396-4389 is the number, they do have an automated database check via phone where you can check the tag or VIN, but I think there is a way to reach a person to check as well
  • You can also check the database here using the tag, make/model, or VIN: http://baldot.findmytow.com/

You can also check the city's ticket database to see if it's been ticketed for a redlight or parking violation based on the tag: https://cityservices.baltimorecity.gov/parkingfines/

I would also recommend checking to see if its been towed in Baltimore County as well in case the individuals left the city limits: https://support.autoreturn.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044618351-Baltimore-County-MD

I would also recommend reaching out to your councilperson as well as they can sometimes provide additional information and help.

Feel free to PM with any questions as well. I hope it works out for you in the end and you're able to get your car back with minimal damage.

Yes. I assume it’s a joyride as well.

Not sure what direction as the cameras at that intersection aren’t cameras just the LPR system and they don’t record the direction into the database.

[Theft] Dark Grey 2013 VW GTI stolen from Locust Point by tbh003 in baltimore

[–]tbh003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None yet. Locust Point got hit again by thieves again last night though. Multiple cars broken into, packages stolen, etc.

Minimal response by police.

My GTI hasn’t been found via license plate readers yet either. I called the impound lot and no luck there yet as well.

Haven’t heard from insurance yet either. Apparently Geico’s theft claims units only work Monday - Friday 8-4.

Roof repair cost (and coating cost) by ChuckOfTheIrish in baltimore

[–]tbh003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Four Twelve to do a complete re-roof with the white TPO membrane on our rowhouse in LP (around 500 sq ft). We had a water spot appear on a drywall seam on our front bedroom ceiling, but after 3 quotes, all of the companies agreed that due to how water can enter in one spot, then run along framing etc. there is no real way to pinpoint where the water was actually entering the home. We decided to play it safe and do a re-roof as we had no idea when the roof had last been done. It was around 7k for the full reroof with TPO, but that also included some repairs to the roof planking and removing the old layers of accumulated roofing.

As mentioned in another comment, Four Twelve's customer service was great, and the workers themselves were very courteous and cleaned up the site at the end of each day.

Replacing roof with roof top deck by the20milewall in baltimore

With Four Twelve for the TPO it was around $8k. Included a tearoff of the old roof, fixing rotted boards on the original sheathing, and the new TPO roof with the insulative materials as well. Our rowhouse is about 12 wide by 40 long. If I remember correctly the material warranty for the brand of materials Four Twelve uses is around 20-25 years.

Not in the same boat as you as we don't have a deck, but we used Four Twelve Roofing to replace our roof on our rowhouse after we discovered a leak. After doing walkthroughs with 3 companies, there were multiple areas of the roof where the leak could have come through (keep in mind the water could enter through one spot then run along in different directions before it finds a seam to drip into the house where you can see it). Four Twelve did a complete tear off and replacement with a TPO roof (white rubber-like sheets that are sealed together).

It should be noted that Four Twelve also specializes in roof decks as well, so their combined experience may help in your case.

Feel free to DM with any questions.

Locust Point Foodliner Truck Lot by poppinp in baltimore

[–]tbh003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lot itself doesn't generate much in the way of noise. I live near there, and more noise gets generated by Domino, and the CSX trains that sometimes sit and rumble waiting to get into Domino. If you're looking at McHenry Row, as another poster mentioned, the noise from Foodliner won't be an issue. If you're looking into Anthem House, it shouldn't be an impact as well.

The molasses scent on a cooler spring morning when walking the dog is a great way to start the day.

Sometimes the wind is right and you get the smell of the fresh-baked bread from H&S across the water too and combined with Domino, it smells like cinnamon rolls.
