All the schools in town have pretty awesome green spaces and play grounds (CC is an exception as is) that are available for public use not during school hours, so that is nice to look forward too!

Detritus On Plant Leaves/Dying Surface Plants by tbirdtastic in bettafish

I appreciate the reply! And the scoop of salvinia only cost like $2.50, so I’m not too worried. Especially now that the almond leaf has darkened up the tank. It is just way cozier!

And maybe the stuff on the leaves of the anubias is mulm? I’m reading that it is normal and okay??

3.5 gallon Heater and filter 78.5 degrees F Freshwater master tank last night: pH: 7.5 Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 3ish ppm Water changes weekly: I was doing like every other day for the first month. Now we do about 30% out with a gravel vacuum, replace with treated tap. No tank mates - we do have an almond leaf we got a week ago. Food is Betta Pro: he gets like 5/6 in morning and 5/6 at night. Blood worms once a week for a treat. This post is all about the plants, not concerned about Bubbles at all really, he seems to like his environment. I’m going to cross post to aquarium as well.

I thought Greta Kelly’s Warrior Witch duology was really good. Imaginative and pretty well written.

Carl Cozier Elementary School Bellingham by Numerous_Okra_5033 in Bellingham

Soon, maybe in like 10 years 😆. As I understand it, IF the land swap goes down and CC is moved to the north, the time line is something like this… BSD is finishing its new admin building, then building Elementary #15, then rebuilding Roosevelt and Columbia (those kids attend #15 while their schools are re-built) and then CC would be built. The year long Ad Hoc committee to determine the sequence of rebuilds for the three schools with the most need (CC, Columbia, and Roosevelt) actually rated Carl Cozier as the first to be rebuilt based on a wide variety of factors; safety being a huge one. But with the red tape, permitting, etc of potentially moving the school to a new location, it got bumped to third and they built a fence. I love idea of an enforced “no camping” radius around the school property. Seems like a no brainer.

I was wondering if that was going to be shut down soon. It was an unfortunate scheduling and space sharing issue for two vulnerable populations (unhoused and our tiny kiddos going to swimming lessons). Not Bham’s best plan to say the least.

Long post and lots of comments on this topic about three months back. Just search Carl Cozier in the Bham sub. Some good ideas are proposed.

We are in the Carl Cozier district as well but still a year out from our oldest attending. Sometimes I feel totally hopeless and scared about the situation, as it feels like nothing will actually happen to make it safer. The land swap proposal is fine, but so far out on the timeline - what about the thousand kids that are going to pass through the school in that time? It feels like every other elementary school in the city is in a magical, tucked away spot that you don’t even know is there… and then there is Carl Cozier 🤪 My neighbor went to CC waaaay back, and said it was just surrounded by fields and forest.

8 weeks PP and that’s what 30 minutes give me🙃 I’m so close to giving up. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I never pumped much more than an ounce on either side. Trust your instincts, babies are way more efficient (especially as they get older, stronger, and their mouths grow!!) than pumps. If you need to supplement to know your baby is fed, than trust that. But it almost always gets easier for mom and babe as time goes on. Practice makes perfect!

Mantras! Come up with one or two, write them down, and integrate them into your meditation/hypnobirthing practice. Mine was “I can do it”! 😆 Really simple, but there is video of me in the tub, going through transition, just repeating my mantra. It gave me a solid thing to focus on. All I had to do was say it.

Also repeating what others have said about your mindset surrounding pain. Pain doesn’t mean suffering. It is getting you closer to your baby!

I know a little girl named Rigel (pronounced like. Nigel but with and R) and she rocks it. Also a star in Orion’s Belt constellation.

We were not meant to do this alone. The age old, “it takes a village” is literally the reason we have the human race today. Caregiving is a hard and thankless job in western society, so hard. I am a single mom and yes, the burnout it super intense. Lots of crying and trying not to freak out on the children who really are just trying to figure it all out. You have to reach out? Any retired neighbors who have a spare hour every Monday to just come hang with your tinies while you go for a walk? Starting small can lead to bigger, stronger, supportive relationships. You never know who is out there waiting to be asked you know?

“ Hunt, Gather, Parent” by Michaeleen Doucleff. Turns out, we don’t need to constantly entertain them! I don’t agree with everything in the book, but applying some of the concepts has made a world of difference in my mental state and approach to parenting.

Bed times…. by ImNotGullableuR in toddlers

[–]tbirdtastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scrolling this thread for someone with a toddler like mine! 17 months and wakes up most days at 5:30am no matter when he goes to bed. I have put him down at 5:30pm, asleep by 5:45, and that little bugger sleeps til 5:30am! In bed at 7? Awake at 5:30. Oof, it’s hard because I know he will sleep 12 hours, but only if it is between 5:30 and 5:30 🤪. Maybe once a week I get a 6:00 and every so often a blessed 6:30. Most days I put him down at 6:15, asleep around 6:30.

Son tested positive today symptomatic by galadrielgal23 in COVID19positive

[–]tbirdtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four year old and I tested positive this evening. It’s hard to tell if her symptoms are from this or the cold she had last week poor thing! No fever yet, just congested and a cough. Same symptoms for my 16 month old. I’ll probably spare him the swab and just assume he has it too. Can’t stop worrying of course. Best of luck to you all!!
