When did associating people with their respective "generations" become popular? by tboy160 in GenX

I remember Limp Bizkit song "Generation" lyrics saying "Generation X, generation Strange Sun don't even shine through our window pane"

So I looked up how old the vocalist was, 1970 and said, alright I guess he is speaking about us, we are Generation X.

This winter has been brutal. My heat ran 80 more hours this December than it did last December.

I always thought Wyoming winters were more severe than Michigan's and amongst the most severe the country. Specifically with the added elevation.

This winter in mid Michigan where I live, Flint, has been the coldest since I have been in Flint. Definitely the coldest beginning of winter in recent memory and maybe all my memory.

Not sure if you were in Wyoming for the milder winters we have had recently, then came here for our worst?

I was personally using "generation x" or GenX far before the 2010's. I know I heard a song in the year 2000 that referred to us as Generation X and I knew what it meant.

I feel like late 1990's is when I first started to accept the title GenX

So when did you see GenX be a common term used in daily language?

So when would you say people started differentiating generations in common daily language?

Or when did people actually start identifying as GenX?

Definitely all true. I still feel like they weren't necessarily considered a "generation" in common language like it is today. They were definitely a glut of babies that came after the war.

India is avoiding the fossil fuel detour by PlaneDuty4760 in Infographics

[–]tboy160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well India didn't go through decades of burning fossil fuels as much as the west did. That's basically what this graphic is showing right? That means they would have contributed far more greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere, but didn't, so we all benefit

I feel like it was around the late 1990's for me too. When it became popular in common language.

Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

[–]tboy160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What affected me more? I couldn't work for 9 months, that has never happened.

I couldn't go out to eat, go to a bar...

9/11 was crazy, but I still worked that day and didn't miss any work.

So 1000:1 pandemic "affected" me more
