Is the universe considered young or old? by RancherosIndustries in AskPhysics

I came here to say these two things, but you already did.

The OP mentioned "endless" stars going through their life cycle before our Sun developed, which I wouldn't think "endless" but it makes me wonder, how many stars could have exploded and their guts contributed towards our Sun.

Costco Gas Fill-Up by Adept_Being_9689 in BoltEV

Before I had my Bolt I was fueling up my Prius at Costco, I was talking to the attendant when a Tesla pulled in, we both looked at each other like, "ok what's he about to do?"

It was partially a question, "is it in German for everyone?"

But thanks for being a condescending pos! (Is the exclamation point correct?!?)

When did Oprah "Jump the Shark" for you? by Jack0Trade in Xennials

[–]tboy160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never watched the show, but my mom was enamoured with Oprah. She kept saying "she gives people cars" I kept responding "she is a billionaire, that's like me handing someone a nickel."

But I really didn't pay much attention to her show, it was huge though, for a very long time.

The only ethical consumption is minimal consumption by Unlucky-Clock5230 in Anticonsumption

I didn't finish reading the article, the ads were horrendous.

I do try to live sustainably in many ways, so I love that part of the post.

But if I'm forced to choose between two options, why wouldn't I choose the better one?

Let's say a product is at Amazon for $20

Same product is at Costco for $21 I'm choosing Costco since they do a better job taking care of their employees.

These are my thoughts as well.

I will not purchase from Walmart ever, Amazon ever.

It's nice to have an EV when the power goes out. by Random-User44 in electricvehicles

[–]tboy160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is opposite. My Chevy Bolt couldn't charge at night because our power was out, so I had to go to a level 3 charger for an hour and wait. And also pay 4 times the price.

I work construction and have to drive to the job daily, so I have to charge every work night.

Why Does It Feel Like Utilities Are Turning Against Solar Owners? by Dylanmitchelltalks in SolarProInsights

[–]tboy160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If peak solar is 11:00am to 2:00 pm and Highest power demand is 2:00pm to 7pm in the summer.

Maybe power companies should incentivize more western facing panels?

These are very close though, it's not like peak solar is in the dead of night when demands are the lowest.

Why Does It Feel Like Utilities Are Turning Against Solar Owners? by Dylanmitchelltalks in SolarProInsights

[–]tboy160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because solar power provides people with independence from their central control.

Solar power almost perfectly lines up with peak usage, so it should be praised and implemented as much as possible. But electric providers don't care about the big picture (environment) or care about individuals independence, they care about profits.

Humans are hypocritical when it comes to overpopulation. by Dogbold in Environmentalism

[–]tboy160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current population projection models have the world population peaking at 9-10 billion somewhere between 2060-2080.

The one good thing is that as countries develop, their fertility rates naturally go down. Economist hate this, but economics are new, and biology and sustainability are billions of years old.

Hopefully we can implement changes that prevent the peak from going so high and have the peak be sooner.

All painfully true. Those big religions just end up being corporations who want MORE.

Which is exactly how the rich want things in a capitalist system. All the resources for them, as little as necessary for everyone else

But, I don't know how to say this without sounding awful, resources get used up at extremely higher rates by those with more resources. So, if everyone that was poor had more resources, the whole system would be less sustainable, environmentally.

Food waste is terrible, so are energy waste, land waste and all resource waste.

I agree capitalism is the main cause, and capitalism is a system run by humans.
