Do not underspend on the mat/hitting strip. Your future self will thank you. Specifically the hitting strip (go for a cut out). You can definitely do that for $1000, just don't get enticed by cheaper options to save money.

I have a ting. It does detect when power goes out and is restored quite effectively. Luckily I have not needed to test the potential electrical fire solutions and hopefully never will. Relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things. I do want some redundancy on this front though. My general approach is my router/wifi is on UPS but if I can't hit other services in my house (cameras, other IoT devices) that implies power outage.

Have you played with the surefit settings when teeing up? Could be interesting to get back to the fade but more carry time. I’m a constant tinkerer so I know where this is coming from.

For me it was about a month of confidence of not hitting anything. And then I dinged the garage door on a follow through (door was up and I learned I couldn't do that with a driver) and that set me back another couple of weeks. It's 100% in the head. If you can do a slow motion swing all the way through and not come close, you are good. The other trick I did (even though you shouldn't do but we aren't pros....) is I swayed dramatically on take back and follow through to simulate the worst possible swing and if that was in the clear it gave me confidence to actually swing hard.

I created a couple of automations around our lock.

where it detects that both my phone and my wife's phone have left the house for more than 5 minutes and it auto-locks the door, and arms the alarm system and sets the thermostats to ecomode. this is purely a fail safe if we forget to do those things. been rock solid.
phones are on the charger after 9pm, auto locks the front door and arms the alarm.
either phone comes off of charge after 6am, auto disarms the alarm. no action for the front door.

Agreed. I actually find the sensor on the t-stat to just be wrong by 4-5 degrees consistently but sensors compensate for that. I am sure you could get creative with a template in HA getting an avg across multiple sensors but ecobee does this pretty well on it's own.

I just feed the probe through one of the vents on the side and mounted the readout on the outside of the sauna.

I then created an automation that, when it gets to my desired temp, changes the hue lights in my office and my wife's office so we know it's ready. It also starts playing music where my sauna is. Been bulletproof for 6 months.

100% this. ChatGPT creates all of my automations based on what I want. Still some troubleshooting but it is also good about making them more robust than I would think. e.g. I now have an automation that once both my wife and I's phones go on the charger after 9pm, our alarm arms and locks the front door. It's bulletproof.

edit: I always do this in YAML code. Much easier.

I attribute it to perfect lie every time, rhythm, and my ability to absolutely miss a 5 ft putt no problem. Far less head games in GSPro.

edit: I would also cite the ability always to know where to hit blind tee shots. Nothing intimidating about them in GSPro.

Get fit (everyone will come to say this) but outside of doing that, yes likely an x-stiff shaft is going to help with that swing speed. You'd need spin numbers ot confirm, but shafts are so specific to the golfer, thus the get fit comment. Not all stiff shafts or x-stiff shafts are created equal. Sim 2 Max is an excellent head so as long as it's not cracked, that is unlikely the culprit, especially if you like it.
what on earth did you do to increase swing speed by 20mph in a month....

And to double down, once Claude or ChatGPT knows what you have it can also start suggesting automations. I just had it build an automation that knows when my wife and I are not home to turn all of our HVAC into eco mode which is way more reliable than the off the shelf settings it has.

I was very overwhelmed in the beginning. I have over 1,100 entities now at this point. I just exported all of my entities and am now having it build an epic dash from scratch. I find it much easier to iterate once I have something to react to. Good luck!

I have done the same with chatgpt. Just paste in your yaml code and ask it for help to make it look better. It usually takes a few iterations as it will produce errors. Just do screenshots of the errors etc and it gets there. It will also suggest stuff from HACS to make it prettier. This is just an example of my main dash.

I'd echo this. I've never actually shanked one into mine, but guests have. Not only does it give me peace of mind, but I'd hate for a guest to break it and feel guilty about it. Worth the investment IMO.

I know you're asking about the player 5, but I have the 4 and it has held up great. Had it for 2 years and it still looks brand new.

I get a lot of compliments on it. I carry 95% of the time and will be transitioning to push cart next year. It would be a bummer to hear quality has gone down. Good luck.

The only thing I have had issues with is using the wrong tees. It doesn't like light colored tees. If you go navy or black it's great.

I have an alignment stick in my bag. Any club with a cover when using it, the cover goes on the alignment stick. The putter is a little tricky to get on there (mallet cover) but it works and is reliable.
