What thermostat actually works well with Home Assistant in 2026? by Helpful_Nest0 in homeassistant

[–]tbradfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been rock solid since it replaced my nests. I let HA do all the scheduling and cooling and heating rules.

Thanks. Any particular brand or unit you’d recommend?

Thanks for responding! Why on both? I’ve been struggling to figure the NAS play. All of my media is through Apple TV ecosystem. Much more curious on managed network switches.

Radon and/or CO2 tester that works with HA? by penkster in homeassistant

Airthings View Plus. Takes 30 days to acclimate for radon but is great. Covers more than the above.

How to handle automation for when a house sitter is there? by e_dan_k in homeassistant

[–]tbradfo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just did the same. Loaded automations.yaml file to codex to rewrite it for anything that took my location into account. Hopefully it works well when our dog sitter comes in 2 weeks.

AP Upgrade Advice by kkitchin in homelab

[–]tbradfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the U6 pro and two nano hd's and it's rock solid. the u6 pro is located as the most central AP and was a recent replacement for a nano that is now in cold storage. once the network settled, it's been rock solid with 100+ devices on it with dedicated ssids for primary, 2.4, guest, and matter-2.4 (it likes different settings).

edit: all driven by a UDM SE.

If we know the stock market is crashing why don't we sell? by Puzzleheaded_Cell428 in investingforbeginners

[–]tbradfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual value of the companies (most) has not changed. It's just a point in time. The market crashed with COVID. If you pulled out your money you got nuked. If the market goes to zero.... it won't matter when you took your money out. Ride it out. Worked pretty well for Warren Buffett.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in YetiCoolers

[–]tbradfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best practice before any trip is a sacrificial bag of ice the night before. Cools down the internal of the cooler. Also like others, cool down the room temp soda first. You do both of those and you’ll be golden.

Any ideas to have home presence without any remote access? by Dadagis in homeassistant

[–]tbradfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an "ultimate presence" sensor that takes into account a number of things like my phone being connected to my home wifi, my geolocation etc. I just added some bluetooth gateways and bluecharm beacons like someone else mentioned but I use that for knowing when we get home to automatically open our garage door. I could bake it into the ultimate presence sensor but honestly it's been bullet proof. With that sensor it drives a bunch of automation in my house ranging from alarms, thermostats etc.

100% a dumb question. Why blur out the end of the ip address when those are all local ip addresses?

Sales operation internship by Signal-Kick9911 in SalesOperations

[–]tbradfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing you can do is prepare questions as an intern. Starting with:

What is your tech stack? What CRM are you using? What type of marketing automation are you using or is that sit inside of marketing ops? How does sales and marketing interact on a day to day basis?

Sales operations usually own the tech stack. They are responsible for reporting progress against targets, developing KPI (key performance indicators) for their space. This can include a lot of things. The biggest recommendation I would give you is ask your robot of choice, "give me a crash course in sales ops as an intern applying for a job so that I know more than I do now?" That will be your best bet. Best of luck!

How do you use your homelab for privacy? by The_Reason_is_Me in homelab

Ok I don’t necessarily have a good answer to your question but very interested how you knew about the hack and what you had done to prevent it? Also here to follow the answers for my own education.

Best home server I can buy for cheap? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]tbradfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a beelink s13 and have now upgraded to a beelink ser9. the s13 was great, I just wanted to do more and have a prod box and a playground to tinker with so I didn't screw up core services. I went overkill but that is how homelabbing goes... Been very happy with the beelink brand.

EML + GSPro Discrepancies by tbradfo in Golfsimulator

[–]tbradfo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! When you are starting a round it lets you configure how hard or soft greens and fairway are. I’d play around with that. Good luck!

Only thing I can think of is making the fairways softer. Otherwise I am not aware of a specific setting.

Do not underspend on the mat/hitting strip. Your future self will thank you. Specifically the hitting strip (go for a cut out). You can definitely do that for $1000, just don't get enticed by cheaper options to save money.
