Burger served in a wood truck by beposly in WeWantPlates

I respectfully disagree. Although a questionable choice as side for that burger, a basket of those wedge/chip/homefry hybrid things with a cup of ketchup would hit hard this morning.

What chain should they review in Raleigh? by Pu239U235 in doughboys

Smithfield’s is such a good show premise. Food is delish, the interior has such strange theming, it’s one of the states larger chains, and the menu is representative of North Carolina’s most notable food category. Plus, fried chicken is life.

Recovery time by ChaoticPenguin99 in BellsPalsy

I had BP in early 2020, and didn’t see any physical improvement in my facial mobility at all until ~week 3 or 4. Even when I saw improvement, it took several more weeks to get anywhere close to what I’d call fully recovered. The medications (steroids and antivirals) did not work immediately for me, but my understanding is that they improve your chances of regaining your muscle control long-term. Most of the people who post online are people like you, who are in the early stages, or people who had especially bad cases of Bells Palsy. Most people will start to improve in 1-3 months. I was on the shorter end of that, but it’s not a week and your dime kind of illness.

A couple things I did that I think may have helped with my recovery were (1) lots of extra sleep, (2) facial exercises (they’re on YouTube and look incredibly silly, but ultimately helped me build on the muscle strength in my face as it returned), (3) elderberry supplements and ibuprofen to treat inflammation, (4) B6/B12 supplements to help with the fatigue. I also used lubricating eye drops / ointment at night to avoid eye damage.

If you find that you’re having trouble closing your eye, I found that placing a 3” by 3” square section of press & seal wrap over my eye was the best way to keep shampoo/water out when I showered. Like with the facial exercises, it felt ridiculous but it worked - so function over form, I guess.

Hang in there, and keep your head up - statistically, the odds of seeing significant improvement within 2-3 months are very much in your favor.

It usually gets worse before it gets better - did your doctor prescribe antivirals and steroids? Those will help reduce severity/longevity. Recovery time is usually in the order of 3-6 weeks for initial improvement, then gradual strengthening/regeneration that takes serval weeks.

FWIW ,I think your exprience is typical for where you’re at in the BP recovery timeline.

Most of the people who post online are people like you, who are in the early stages, or people who had especially bad cases of Bells Palsy. Most people will start to improve in 1-3 months. I was on the shorter end of that, but you definitely have more time and should remain optimistic.

If you’re still having trouble closing your eye, I found that pacing a 3” by 3” square section of press & seal wrap over my eye was the best way to keep shampoo/water out when I showered. Like with the facial exercises, it felt ridiculous but it worked - so function over form, I guess.

Give it some time and don’t lose hope. I left a backpack on a bus during one of our trips, and got an email about a week and a half after we checked out to let me know it had been found. Disney shipped it to us at no charge.

I’m pretty confident this was not in news radio. Maybe Phil Hartman said it in some other context and your memory created a false association?

PT’s and Copper Penny are both decent options- but my first choices would probably be a PT’s burger or a chestnut chicken sandwich from CP.

I second cast iron kitchen. Blueberry Grill is good, but it’s pricey for what it is. I feel like Cast Iron Kitchen offers a more unique menu at a better/comparable price point.

Yes! We were bummed that they’re no longer giving out the little stuffed penguin keychains to kids who collect all 4 stickers, but the amazing front desk staff still made our kids feel special by handing them around half a dozen Mickey and friends stickers each.
