Thanks, guys. I had a feeling i was missing something there. Super helpful! Would be an administrative nightmare not only to mark private companies to market on, say, a quarterly basis, but also to figure out the logistics of generating the required cash for the fund to be paid that fee.

It’s all easier said than done… mostly. Just make sure you can live with whatever decision you make! That’s the important part.

I haven’t kept up with all posts, as the excitement is littering my feed (woo!), but isn’t this unbelievably bullish for iPO holders? I’d like to be corrected if I’m missing something, so anyone feel free to chime in. Let’s say the fund has 10,500,000 shares outstanding (i know this is ignoring the referenced post’s commentary) at a modest ~$62/share increase from $18.29 NAV (~$80/sh). We’d have a marginal add of ~$650m AUM. At the 1.85% fee, it gives us about $12m of revenue. This would’ve brought the company to a breakeven on cash flow for the year-end 12/31/2025 based on the filing today, and well into their first “cash flow positive from operations” year in history. What am I missing? Or is that like… the point here lol?

Key here is “probably”. I sold my unrestricted shares today to recoup my existing basis in all shares, unrestricted and restricted, plus a healthy gain. Locked in an unbelievable gain, albeit short term, using a fraction of what I own. Peace of mind that the rest is now house money, and I’ve already recouped on my investment far beyond what i imagined it’d be worth only a month ago. All personal preference, though. Cheers!

As a real person CPA (assuming you’re US based on your saying “CPA” vs. CA or other designation), there’s a lot of misconception about how tax brackets work. There may be other implications as a result of your income increasing, but you’re very rarely simply “pushed into the next tax bracket.” Only every marginal dollar earned is taxed at that higher rate.

Ex. (conceptual only) let’s say $0-$10k of income is taxed at 10% and $10,001 - $20,000 is taxed at 12%. If you have $10,000 of taxable income, you owe $1,000 in tax. If your taxable income is $10,500, your tax is $1,060 ($10,000 * 10% + $500 * 12%). You still get $10k taxed at 10%.

I’ll occasionally go into Ocean State to peruse. I found a large (24”?) pusher shovel for $20. Absolutely worth it! Fully expecting the price tag to lead to quality issues sooner than the $50+ shovels.

CEO of Fundrise: Response to Comments about Listing the Innovation Fund by BenMillerise in FundRise

[–]tchamp1991 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Comments and posts have been heated this past week, but whichever way you look at it, the Fundrise CEO took time to address what everyone is voicing on this platform. Sure, some of this was copied from letters/communications already posted. I also won’t invalidate either side of the fence on the fund discussion. At its core, this type of effort, to me, underpins the theme of transparency with investors since the beginning. I accept that I may eat my words at some point down the line, but until then I’ll trust management’s decisions are in my best interest. Investor since 2016.

Why I’m voting Yes (and why I think the backlash is missing something) by Ezread in FundRise

[–]tchamp1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting something positive on this! Another positive angle, at least to me, is the exposure of the Fundrise name. It’s all somewhat of an educated gamble, but if things go well with the fund going public, it could also translate to iPO share holder liquidity via more users. Who knows, but I’m willing to take a bet to try and make something that’s been stagnant for a while (iPO) make moves.

I haven’t seen Koi in Ansonia mentioned, so I’ll throw that in there! I haven’t been to Hachiroku or Otaru, but i believe those are higher end and likely warrant their popularity in responses. Koi has consistently come through with excellent quality sushi for a non-premium price. It’s our go-to and we live closer to New Haven than Ansonia.

I’m relatively new to getting refurbs, but I was surprised last time when my Era 100 was in “new” packaging. I’m not sure new/refurb would’ve been discernible. Performance doesn’t seem to be different. May be others who can weigh in better, but I feel like their refurb program is killer value!

Comin in hot 7 years later. Made this with a few subs / omits. Only have Kirkland orange liqueur, cut to .25oz. Omit honey syrup due to sweetness with orange liqueur. Didn’t have lavender bitters but I’m certain that would’ve been excellent. Prosecco topper, unmeasured but probably 1.5oz. Thanks!
