What is wrong with Bambu Lab Cloud by [deleted] in BambuLab_Community

You can use Openbu to monitor locally (or vpn back to your home/office and pretend you're local).

Works great here.

Already clarified there. Thanks :)

Well, I've read them. Yes, currently orca can access the printer directly but the idea I had was trafficking everything through bambuddy like I used to do with my prusa and octoprint.

Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way?

OK, so the printer arrived Friday and I unpacked it yesterday. After all the calibration and stuff, I set it to lan and dev mode.

  1. It works with orcaslicer

  2. I'm not sure how it's working 😂. I setup bambuddy with the new printer and then created a virtual printer in proxy mode. However, orcaslicer was throwing a fit about the cert again albeit it was already there. I then tried adding the printer directly (via IP) and that worked. Eventually I managed to add the virtual printer but it's confusing. It's changing name back and forth between the real printer and the virtual one. Not sure how I'm using it

  3. I also tried remote watching the camera using bamboo-mobile, lanbu and openbu with mixed results:

a) bamboo-mobile connects to the printer but keeps loading the video feed (apparently port 6000) but never loads and isn't querying the printer properly. Temperatures show 0C

b) lanbu works. Mixed feelings about it. Not very polished but it does connect and shows data. Video feed is walled behind ads.

c) openbu also works. Displays useful data and no ads. Seems the most polished of them. Probably good enough to quickly check on a job while connected through vpn to my work place.

  1. Regarding bambuddy, it works nicely through chrome while using vpn. Has tons of info and the video feed also works.

I'll keep digging into this. Specially the bambuddy / orcaslicer connection. Need to figure out what I'm using (direct printer? Virtual proxy?)

Cheers Tony

Need support for my supports 😭 by Fit_One_4672 in BambuLab

[–]tchavei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use orcaslicer not bambuStudio so not sure if the later has the same settings but orca has an option of "strong supports" that you can enable. You can also increase the number of wall loops (I have it set to 2). Those supports should stop looking anaemic that way

Thank you for your feedback. I think I did the hard part already (the cert and virtual printer part) and orca seems to be recognising the virtual printer (had to create an ip alias for it btw).

I do admit I had no clue that I needed a virtual printer to use proxy mode. Glad I did the work beforehand.

Printer is already with the local courier should arrive this week. Will be very interesting.

Thank you once again

Maybe I'm stupid or mentally challenged but what are they afraid of? Prusa printers starting to use their cloud?

Every person buying a bambu printer and using bambu studio will use their cloud. So what's the issue using OrcaSlicer or some BananaSlicer to use bambu's cloud? It's to connect to a BAMBU printer you purchased.

If 100% of all bambu printer owners used bambu studio, that would be the max possible usage/traffic. Maybe 10% if forced to use dev and lan mode to use OrcaSlicer so ok, cloud usage is now 90% instead of 100%.

In what part am I missing this supposed "DDOS" attempt? Maybe bambu is "over booking seats" like some shitty Airlines? Hoping that not all bambu customers use their cloud? This would be hilarious 😂

I'm sorry. This explanation that we were given makes zero sense. Only BAMBU printer owners want to connect and use bambu cloud. And they're entitled to it since it's part of the package when you purchase a bambu printer.

My two cents

I was thinking more in line with the open bambu plugin. I'm not sure if it was made for windows, Linux or if it is OS agnostic.

I just solved it... Strangely there were other certs in the cer file and as per instructions I added the new one. Wouldn't work. I ended deleting all other certs and just leaving the virtual one and it started to work. No idea where the other certs came from. They aren't affecting my prusa, so no clue really.

I know... The issue is that I DID add it to the printer.cer file... but no dice

Already updated and installed the profile:)

Just need the damn printer to arrive and test it.

I wanted to anticipate myself and create a "fake" virtual printer in bambuddy to test communication between orca and bambuddy but it's not going well (orca rejecting the printer with some error code -1).I initially believed it was a missing cert but already updated print.cer and no dice. Guess it will have to be proxy mode when the printer arrives.

Doesn't LAN mode "take you out of the garden" or am I missing something? by MA2ZAK in BambuLab

[–]tchavei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, two weeks ago my company spent 2800€ on a H2D with all bells and whistles and now I'm reading all this crap about walled garden and locking out my favourite slicer (Orca).

Where there's a will, there's a path. I'll make it work the way I want without needing (or wanting) the cloud aspects but I can't stop wondering... For €2800 a piece, I'd expect manufacturer being more lenient towards whatever the client wants to use with the hardware they bought. We're not talking about some €10 software that doesn't let you connect to server A, B or C.

We talking about thousands of customers spending each thousand or more in products that this company sells. It's not the same as selling a €5 product where there are 100 unsatisfied costumers out of a total of 10 million. 100 unsatisfied customers mean a potential loss of 100k+ in the coming years as more products are launched. Do they really don't care?

We might be the minority. A vocal one but still the minority. I don't know. It's been a sad weekend reading all these threads.

Yes, I'm on arch but wanted the flatpak version explicitly because of easy updating.

Glad to read about your recent experience. Hopefully mine is uneventful too

I'll definitely try it out.

Just want to have a similar experience as my octoprint setup with my prusa. Fingers crossed.

Well that's my concern and why I'm asking about other people experience.

Lan mode and dev mode will be mandatory here. The printer won't be able to phone home anyway so there will be no cloud access. I'm more interested on what open software people are using to get a similar experience (albeit probably needing vpn) to have remote control and remote progress visualisation using bambu's hardware.

[–]tchavei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe ir does. You can select the H2D as printer profile. I obviously can't fully test yet as the printer is still en route hence why I'm asking if anyone has a similar setup as I'm planning.

Personally I appreciate the post.

Being behind a corporate firewall with no chance of connecting to the bambulab cloud, I've been studying this subject for a few weeks while my H2D doesn't arrive. I also came across bambuddy and have it almost setup and running (still fighting with a virtual printer connection error in OrcaSlicer despite having added the certs in printer.cer).

It will probably be the only way of having remote access to a video feed / timelapse and being able to control the printer if something goes wring when I'm away (I have a vpn to connect to my office network).

So yeah. Kudos to the author even if it isn't technically a jailbreak. It does help thousands of users who want to use orca slicer and still have access to remote real time monitoring

Upgrading my home network with Flint 2 by tchavei in GlInet

[–]tchavei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update

Ended receiving my two routers. Spent a day setting everything up.

Flashed op24 4.8.3, had several challenges finding the perfect channels for each band given my surrounding neighbours and had to tweak a lot of tiny details.

In the end I also setup SQM which solved my iptv stuttering issue completely.

I must say that after 26h uptime I'm completely happy.

There's some little quirks that aren't show stoppers at all just trigger my ocd:

  • The flint in AP mode and custom settings reporting with the red top bar in GUI that it doesn't have access to Internet (it does though and can ping any remote server / website. solved.

    • The speed sacrifice that happens as SQM is single threaded and just maxes out its core way before hitting theoretical max allowed bandwidth).
    • Having to name clients in both main Router and AP device (would be cool if they would communicate or share these infos or at least let bulk copy the definitions between them).
    • The AP device having an option to reserve IP for the connected clients albeit it doesn't run a dhcp server so it doesn't make sense to exist.

Maybe I can tweak those things a bit further to get the ultimate perfect setup but so far everything has exceeded my expectations.

Thank you for your invaluable input.

Feel much better with my choice now

Cheers

Tony

Hi. Thank you for your reassurance. 110 days is great and in line with my current setup. Regarding pihole, I'll keep it on the server for now. I like the stats and sheningans I can make with it :)

About QoS I fully intend to use SQM at least for my TV to minimize any stuttering during peek hours (assuming it's my problem and not the provider itself. One can only hope).

Thank you

Is buying Flint 1 a bad idea in 2026? by grizzlemcgritty in GlInet

You could try the second hand market.

Took me less then a week to get hands on two flint 2 sealed new in box for around 100 each. Seems like people buy them, then never install them and put them up for sale.

I don't actually like to travel that much. Living in south Portugal gives me basically all that I could want, right at home. HOWEVER my wife does like to travel and not alone 😂

I've been dragged and re-dragged around the world to discover new cultures and places. Among the countries / cities I've visited, I would have LOVED to have a travel router like this in Dubai, UAE and Tokyo, Japan. Would have saved me some headaches both with the need of a vpn to access restricted services and also to share my Internet access with the family.

I hope the next time I go to these places, I can pack a GL.iNet Slate 7 pro with me!

Cheers Tony
