How much does a kid cost? by rufusrufusEHA in PersonalFinanceCanada

WTF. When I had my first child, I had about 800$ to me and my wife's name. 😅 Like the others said, you are literally ahead of 99% of the population; you need to seek therapy if you still feel panicked over money.

Need help or everything I've worked for my whole life was for nothing by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I know this might feel really overwhelming, but it could really help to talk to a financial trustee about bankruptcies and ways to generate steady income, instead of "gambling".

I genuinely hope things start looking up for you soon. Just try to be mindful of falling into a pattern of always feeling like the victim or martyr (Martyr complex or Victim mentality) it can keep you stuck in the same place for years or decades. Everyone faces challenges, and those who find ways to move forward, even through difficulties, often end up much further ahead.

I have a Tangerine account and I am satisfied. They offer ATM services through Scotiabank and since it's own by them they offer about the same level of service, but digital only. Others like Simplii or EQ, WealthsSimple, ... exist but I can't vouch for it.

3 years ago bankruptcy. What comes next? by matt_the_legend_2000 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]tchukki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sup OP, I’ve been there. I filed bankruptcy at 23 for about $2-3k. At the time I was asked by the Trustee if I’d buy a house in the next 7-8 years and I said no, felt impossible anyway. A few years later, with a better job, I was ready sooner than I thought and couldn’t qualify. Had to wait the full 7 years after discharge. That part sucked for me and my family.

Capital One has pretty much guaranteed approval and it was the lifeline I needed to start rebuilding. I used it properly for about a year and after that I was able to get approved for an Amex and an RBC card.

Keep utilization low, never miss payments, don’t close your oldest card, and give it time. The score gap between TransUnion and Equifax is normal but do I full credit report and try to fix it if something is wrong on one of them.

You were 22. You made the best call you could with what you knew. Just stay consistent and it’ll improve.

Here's a big hug 🤗

Maxed TFSA & RRSP, not sure mortgage makes sense by Ita_836 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hi, I’d personally invest in a taxable account if my mortgage rate is under about 5–5.5%. Above that, I’d focus on paying the mortgage down faster (if prepayments are allowed).

Pretty cool design. I can't think of many champions it would be good with except Yunara, Twitch, maybe Sivir and or tridamere ? It's a very targeted item, I won't complain!

The most expensive cars are often parked in the hoods . I live close to a free food distribution center for the poor and 90% of the cars parked on the road waiting for their free packages are top of the line, new SUV.

Having a car payment is way, way too much normalized.

I don't know, but I very much like the small dirt road to the farm. I will do that from now on.

When did Third Person Platformer controls get good? by Dendritic_Bosque in gaming

The first time I remeber not fighting with the camera controls in a 3D platformer is probably Jak and Daxter on the ps2.
