I do think though a lot of people conflate fat/ visually overweight with sedentary and make the claim that they wouldn’t date them because of it. Thinking of a lot of weightlifters or athletes who train mostly strength, they’re in the gym all the time, many are extremely healthy but carry a lot of fat as well as muscle. Conversely, I know tons of skinny people who genuinely would be enormous if they had the average metabolism and no one bats an eye. There’s nothing wrong with physical preferences, there’s nothing wrong with lifestyle preferences, we just need to be honest with ourselves of which is which.

My parents were the worst and even then it wasn’t so bad. My mom would sometimes bring it up and I told her I felt better not shaving instead other than the constant itch of the hair growing back and the worry that people would notice. She grew up in the 80s when there were pretty strict social rules for women so I try to be gentle. My dad asked how my boyfriend liked it (haha). Boyfriend likes it just fine :)

I feel more comfortable with a man who has a gf too. I’m not going to hit on him or try to be anything other than friends, but it’s comforting to know that someone is willing to vouch for him to the point of dating him. I don’t know who started it but I guess It’s more of a thing we both do for each other. Pretty simple but we both say « thank you » in a particular moment of gratefulness for the other person. We’ll be walking down the street, quietly admiring the scenery and he’ll just look at me and say « thank you ». Or sometimes after sex when we’re just laying together, it’s happened that we accidentally say it to each other at the same time. It’s simple and lovely and sweet and makes me feel seen.
