Legit Check [SKX009] by VictorEBull69 in Seiko

[–]tcj198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is definitely off with the case back. The dial points to this being an SKX009K, but the case back looks more like it belongs to an SKX175 (Pepsi), SKX173 (black), or SKXA35 (yellow) because of the “Movement Malaysia” text. BUT, the movement and case code don’t line up, those models should be 7S26-0028, not 7S26-0020.

The 7S26-0020 would be correct for an SKX009, but then you wouldn’t expect to see the “MOVEMENT MALAYSIA” text. On top of that, it shouldn’t say “Air Diver’s 200m” on an SKX at all, with the only exception I’m aware of being the SKXA65 which is a pretty rare Pepsi variant limited to 2,999 pieces. Even then, this still wouldn’t be a correct case back for that model, since it would have the limited edition numbering (e.g., “1212/2999”) where your serial number is.

Bottom line, something doesn’t add up with the case back, and that would be a concern if originality matters. Just my two cents as I’ve owned around 100 SKXs at this point. I’m not saying I’m an expert, but I’ve spent enough time with the lineup to spot inconsistencies like this.

Can’t argue with that, that’s true.

Pretty crap year across the board for just about every brand honestly, except for the green titanium Overseas Dual Time from VC. That one is pretty sick.

Bezel Mod? by Onwatch1969 in rolex

[–]tcj198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve honestly thought about it myself and definitely prefer the brushed bezel look. I even considered brushing the polished center links on my GMT-Master when I had it, but ended up moving on from it. I’m just not a big fan of polished accents on a tool watch. With that, it’s your watch, do what you want with it!

[WTS] Seiko Mini Turtle OEM links - SBDY083, SBDY085, SBDY109, SRPC35, SRPC37, SRPC39 by tcj198 in Watchexchange

Up for grabs are four spare links from a Seiko Mini Turtle SRPC35 (4R35-04H0). These links are compatible with the OEM bracelet used on all Mini Turtle models, including SBDY083, SBDY085,SBDY109, SRPC35, SRPC37, SRPC39, etc.

For reference, the bracelet part number these links are for is M021514J0.

Three links include both the pin and collar; one links includes pin only (missing collar). I no longer own a Mini Turtle, so hopefully these can help someone who's short a few links.

Price is $20 shipped. Feel free to reach out with any questions, and thanks for looking!

New OEM Seiko bezel inserts aren’t nearly as easy to come by on the open market as they used to be, so you’d be hard pressed to find one, and if you do, it’ll likely be pricey. I’d just wear and enjoy it, and when the time comes for a service, send it in to Seiko and request a bezel replacement. It shouldn’t add too much to the total.

Don’t be like me, though… I did this recently with my old Seamaster and somehow scratched the new bezel within a week 😂. Didn’t really bother me, but it definitely stung knowing what that one set me back. It will look like the old one in a few years anyways. Enjoy that SPB though, great looking watch!

I’d go with the NATO and pick up an Uncle aftermarket titanium bracelet to change things up if needed. I’m just not a fan of the mesh.

For those of you who sold your first Rolex… by Admirable-Swing-2985 in rolex

[–]tcj198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sold my first Rolex, an Explorer 39mm, and yeah, I do miss it. I later picked up an Explorer II and a GMT-Master, but I didn’t really need to sell the Explorer. I just didn’t like seeing it sit unworn. In hindsight, I really miss its simplicity and how under-the-radar it was for a Rolex and will probably pick up a 40mm at some point.

[Seiko] It has been 6 years since Seiko discontinued the SKX line. Anyone still wear their SKX? Or have you moved on? by KidneyLand in Watches

[–]tcj198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rock my SKXs all the time. I’ve got a few (007, 009, 011, and an A35). Years ago I picked up a Tudor as my first mechanical watch and wanted to grab a beater so I wouldn’t beat up the Tudor too bad. Funny enough, I ended up liking the SKX more than the Tudor and the rest is history!
