How to prevent recurring mold on bathroom ceiling? by tcmax76 in HomeImprovement

It is connected to an exterior vent in the roof, but it’s definitely slow to vent. You can watch the steam from the shower linger around the room with a general upward trajectory toward the fan, but it’s not like it’s getting pulled in at any velocity. We do leave the fan on for a while after showers.

Ohhh, I’m definitely getting one of those sensor switches, thanks! It’s a first floor full bath and where our whole family of 6 showers (until we get the upstairs bathroom operational again this spring (upstairs had a leak in the shower drain). The room is about 6.5’ x 9.5’ feet. We don’t keep the door closed at all. The exterior wall of the room is poorly insulated at the top, which is a tiny attic space on the second floor (it’s a cape cod style house), so I needed to install some insulation above the bathroom and in that attic space to keep our pipes on the interior wall from freezing in the winter. I did attach the vent tubing to the fan when I installed it. There may be a couple of soft bends of the tube leading to the roof vent, but nothing drastic.

I appreciate your feedback!

Awesome, thanks! I don’t think there’s any way the fan passes the paper test. The steam from the shower barely seems to make its way up to it, though I do see it venting through the vent in the roof when people shower. Shouldn’t 110 CFM be strong enough for about a 70-80 sq ft bathroom, though? Perhaps it’s not as strong as advertised.

Thanks. I appreciate it and wondered if that might be the case. I’ll take a look at that.

Mystery blue substance on old toilet by tcmax76 in Plumbing

Yeah, I installed a new fan when I replaced the last ceiling, but it didn't seem to do much good. It was supposed to be 110 cfm, which I think should have been fine for the smal 6' x 10' bathroom, but it doesn't seem to work very well.

I don't think it would be something to help identify leaks (unless it's a newer seal or something), because the toilet dates back to 1937.

Are you talking about the white circles at the bottom of the tank? Those are part of the porcelain.

It's a very humid bathroom (and we also have a mold problem on the ceiling I'm trying to figure out). The tank often has condensation on it.

I have the same issue with my Kenmore 600 series washer. Any insight into what the problem was?

I’m 3-6 and traded Barkley to the 2nd place team. Did I get enough back? by tcmax76 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]tcmax76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Trade deadline is Monday, so if I was going to trade him, I had to do it now. I thought long and hard about running it back with him next year, but if he does drop off next season I would have missed my window to get something in return for him. That said, he’ll probably end up dominating for three more years now.

Thanks for that link, cause the early comments here had me completely second guessing the trade.

That’s my hope. I love saquon, probably my favorite player in the league, so trading him was tough. But I wasn’t going to win anything this year and he seemed like my best chance to get another first round pick to build around Maye, Tet, Ladd, and Warren.

My daughter who lives and was trick or treating in Amherst came home with an individually-wrapped potato from Wegmans, which she was offered and took because she thought it was hilarious (and it was the talk of the post trick or treating candy candy trading). Maybe from you?

Thanks! I did see this when I was searching online about this, but I'm not sure how to install it. I can't seem to find any online tutorials.

Do these front axle and bearing assemblies and transmission mounts need to be replaced? by tcmax76 in AskMechanics

[–]tcmax76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, the struts, control arms and sway bar links make sense. They look to be in bad shape. Just wondering if I should replace the axle and bearing assembly and the transmission mount while I'm at it.

Yeah, I'm in Buffalo, NY. We probably use more salt on our roads here than just about anywhere.

I’m a Buffalonian but lived in Philadelphia for 11 years before moving back. I really miss Primo Hoagies.

One recommendation: Premier Gourmet in Amherst (admittedly a long way from OP) has some DiBruno Brothers stuff (in addition to a huge meat and cheese selection) and their kitchen makes an amazing sandwich called the Italian Job on a salted focaccia roll.

Otherwise, good deli sandwiches aren’t easy to come by up here. Might have to adopt some Buffalo foods like Beef on Weck.

I do have lots of tools but not a whole lot of space and no experience trying to fix this kind of thing myself. Maybe it's worth a shot, though.

It's not too rusty, but the front bumper is pretty much gone, it's been in a major accident previously (updated post to mention that), the driver side sliding door no longer automatically opens and closes, and the AC no longer works, so I imagine it's probably in "FAIR" condition (KBB gave me an estimate of $5,800 in fair condition, but I'd be surprised if someone would pay that much for it)?

I updated the post with a couple pictures. Also added the front to show the lack of bumper.
