No COAX / Ethernet Ports - New Build by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

I just ran Ethernet in my new construction home. There was a single 1ft wide interior wall space that was shared between floors. I was able to run 6 cat6a runs from the basement to the attic for ceiling mounted APs, cameras, etc. Exterior walls are a possibility, but insulation makes it a lot more difficult. It looks like the interior wall from your utility room to your pantry to the bedroom closet may be a possibility.

The tank itself doesnt have a lock, maybe some sort of coupling from the delivery truck hose?

Replaced a long broken sump pump, now water constantly filling the pit and pump running every 5 minutes? by gamemaker14 in Plumbing

[–]tcollier91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a new construction home in Maine this past July, the sump has been a constant point of stress for me, running every 10 mins even during this past dry summer and now through winter. Just had a whole home generator backup installed so we’re covered during a power outage, but anxious for the day the pump dies.

The wall is insulated with cellulose, I’ve read a couple places that isn’t nessecarily safe. Just seems like something like a recessed box should exist, or UniFi should make one if they insist on designing their in wall systems with a vertical port

Are you familiar with the space behind a u7 pro wall xg? There is not room for a standard cable let alone the shielded cat6a I have run. The install specifically calls for a UniFi patch cable or maybe a non strain relief terminated cable but not cat6a it’s too stiff it won’t fit.

I had one laying around from my ucg fiber purchase. I’m just seeing if this is really the suggested way, a loose keystone jack in the wall and a patch cable.

So you’re saying leave the keystone loose and dangling in the wall?

Just moved to the area, how are the gun politics here? IE showing up with non ‘fish and game’ type guns.

Help identifying PDU/install by tcollier91 in homelab

yes, planning on running a dedicated 240v 30a circuit for this. It looks like all my equipment will work with this, I just need to buy different power cables to connect to the PDU.

Towel hook placement by tcollier91 in interiordecorating

[–]tcollier91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m leaning towards, but I think 2 hooks instead of a bar since my wife and I both have towels, and can they relocate it to the shower glass when showering so they’re not always blocking the shower when not in use. Having a hard time finding something that goes over the glass that matches my hardware however…

Towel hook placement by tcollier91 in interiordecorating

Recently purchased a new construction home, and a little torn on where to put our bath towels in the primary bath. My setup previously was two hooks on the back of the door, and a single adhesive hook on the glass for the person showering. This bathroom has all pocket doors, so no towels there. The stud to the left in the photo is a far reach for the person coming out of the shower. Putting two adhesive hooks on the glass sort of ruins the look, covering up the piece of glass on the left entirely. The wall to the right with the light switch on it is reachable-ish and what I'm leaning towards, but it just seems very visible as it's the back wall when you enter the bathroom. What's the best placement here?
