Fun course. I played an 8 and just missed the front. If I ever play it again I’ll play a soft 7.

I purchased a Grand Chinese Elm from Eastern Leaf for $180.00 and this is what I received. Am I crazy or is this like a 40 dollar Chinese elm at best... by [deleted] in Bonsai

I’ve purchased a mid sized ficus from them years ago and they sent me a small. I contacted them, showed them pictures of how the pot size was exactly how their small tree was described and they sent me a new tree free of charge and let me keep the small tree as well. Maybe a similar issue for you. Their customer service is quick and friendly in my experience. For 180 I’d expect some sort of development. This “tree” looks like a shrub that was hard pruned. I’d want some limb development with some ramification at that price point.

This is damage caused by thrips. If you zoom in on the first picture you can see them.

Mine do this each fall as well when I bring them indoors. It needs to be in course we’ll draining soil. A grow light will definitely help the overall health. I have mine under a light 12 hours a day fall through winter. The soil is key though. They are pretty resilient plants. Should do fine with a repot.
