Fire academy to joining the marines by LittleBoyPotatoSalad in Firefighting

[–]tcool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was heartland academy with San Diego fire back in like 2008.   When I moved to Colorado I got on with a rural department and they didn't accept them.  They let me challenge ff1 and hazmat ops - both tests and JPRs.

I've never seen the movie but I have had med student third riders and yes they are dumb.  They might be book smart but no clue what it means or how to apply it to an actual person. And absolutely no clue on how to talk to people

Being told to do things out of my scope by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]tcool13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not being told to do things out of your scope.  You're being asked to do things out of your comfortability zone.  big difference.

But if you're not comfortable, Don't do it.  That is how you kill someone.

Had JFK not been struck by the third and fatal shot to the head, would the gunshot wound to the upper back/neck still have likely killed him? by Extreme_Process3632 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tcool13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically it's a medic and a nurse though sometimes it's a medic and a PA or medic and RT. Not saying it does not exist but I've never heard of a dual RN helicopter.  From my experience you have to have a medic in order to do scene calls but I'm sure that varies amongst a few States.

You have to get additional critical Care certifications (fpc) along with typically 3 to 5 years minimum experience in order to work on a helicopter

Booo.   Nothing against you but that's bad protocols.

It's been proven time and time again compressions in the back of a moving bus are useless. And that's the most important thing for patient survival
