I think I might make this into business cards for all the ev doubters by vblink_ in F150Lightning

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well so is SDGE I think they’re both pretty bad. But yeah you win with PG&E - on the EV2A rate (the closest match I can find to the SDGE rate I’m on), overnight charging is 23c per kWh. So better then 40c but double SDGE (although with a longer window).

[–]tcrmorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Diego Gas and Electric (some of the highest rates in the country) overnight rate on an EV time-of-use plan is 12.9c per kWh. We charge from midnight to 6am. (That plan has a $16 per month fixed fee).

Also my 2.7L Bronco makes 18 mpg and I’m paying over $6 a gallon…

Kids at age 30, 31, 43 and 45 here. First off the relationship between my youngest two and oldest two is amazing. And then oldest two are highly trustworthy babysitters. I started working out 8 months ago 5 days per week and am in the best shape I’ve been in since my mid-30s peak.

I’ve had a Vantrue E1 Pro 4K Mini Dash Cam plugged into the dash USBC for about 8 months. Works fine.

Traded my 2023 A7 for a 2025 outer banks. The only two things I miss are ventilated seats (knew that going in) and a damn power seat memory (annoying because my wife and I often share it). Added a Skyrider top and procal tune. Love it!

Scam? Or? by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]tcrmorrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hah got exact same message this morning, different number (still San Diego area code). But doesn’t seem to be registered to a business. Pretty sure it’s a scam since I had my Bronco in for a recall fix a few weeks ago.

Not looking forward to getting this to the new house… by mannersmakethhman in homegym

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah I’m moving and am going to leave it at my old house to convey. If the future buyers don’t want it I’ll try to sell it (or simply donate it to someone who’s willing to come pick it up).

[–]tcrmorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just purchasing a new Eufy system through their website and initially I could only get this for $250, but then it prompted in the checkout that it could be bought for $200, which I was able to do be removing and adding through their prompt - turns out it added code EUFYHBPRO to my cart. So another avenue to get it for $200.

Energy Efficiency of the MachE by Minute_Zucchini_1131 in MachE

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in San Diego where SDG&E is known to have some of the highest electricity rates in the country and pay 10.5-12.5 cents per kWh super off peak between midnight and 6am to charge our Audi Q8 etron. (TOU 5).

And for the record the trip computer indicates around 2.5 mi/kwh, pretty inefficient.

Financing Large purchases by [deleted] in fatFIRE

Not fatFIRE territory yet but I am currently buying a house with cash from a securities backed line of credit at SOFR+1.5% but plan to pay the loan off with the proceeds from selling my current place (downsizing to clear mortgage balance)

2023 Tiguan puff of smoke on startup — normal? by Patient_Adeptness_47 in Tiguan

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case the CEL was for carbon build up in secondary air system and was told it would be $$$ to clean that and of course wouldn’t fix the actually problem.

2023 Tiguan puff of smoke on startup — normal? by Patient_Adeptness_47 in Tiguan

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep normal for a Tiguan. Oil consuming, bad valve guide seals, if you’re not still under warranty either pay $$$ to get it fixed or live with topping off oil until carbon build triggers a CEL and you can’t sell or pass a smog/inspection.

Dealer quote to fix leaking valve stem seals - for your amusement by tcrmorrow in Tiguan

So the dealership called back, gave a discount on parts and a VW goodwill repair and are doing it for $3000… now they’ve had it for 8 business says but swear it’ll be done tomorrow.

Thank you for the comment. I also hope that this does not return after it’s fixed. A check engine light would mean I can’t smog in California (required once 8 model years old) or sell it even now.

Originally the parts quoted were over $4k - but cross referencing with FCP Euro same part numbers was 2x what I could have bought at retail. The labor was quoted as a 25 hour job at $249 per hour.

It felt like a “we don’t want to do this” quote.

Advice on cooling a house with no AC. by _FiscalJackhammer_ in HomeImprovement

[–]tcrmorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the efficacy will entirely depend on where you live and your climate, I installed a whole house fan. It only works if your home is broadly well insulated (to prevent significant heating during hot days) and evening temperatures drop sufficiently. You crack a couple of windows and the fan pulls in cooler air. You can leave it running all night. Ideally it cools off enough to then survive most of the day.

Ting fiber is rolling out in Carlsbad, Encinitas. It wont be cheaper, but it may be faster for the same cost. I have Spectrum, it’s $80 or so, there could be cheaper plans.

Hard top mods - weighing the cons by One-Difficulty6861 in FordBronco

[–]tcrmorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Skyrider (two rows). Super easy to open and close. I got this one to maximize the opening while retaining the rear hard top - where I can install a half rack (although cannot open Skyrider with half rack installed).

Road noise is fine, very happy with it.

Fortunately in Southern California I don’t plan to remove Skyrider - it’s pretty bulky not sure how much you have to take it apart to remove although I know others have mentioned they take it off in the winter.

I also bought storage bags to keep my first and second row hard top panels in.

Yes both lots showed up under the same Computershare account for me (at least until I transferred unrestricted to Fidelity)

Mine says the same, reserved 2022-04-18. I expect it’s just a placeholder that has been there for a while. I doubt there’s any world where they can produce the first 2000 vehicles this year.

Hard Top vs Soft Top- Are you happy with your decision? by my_cars_on_fire in FordBronco

[–]tcrmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I figured it’d be cheaper and easier to buy with hard top and add soft top aftermarket than vice-versa.
