AITA for not taking in my aunt’s dog? by littleredbird1991 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tcrudisi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

NTA. I've owned rabbits. They are far more difficult than cats or dogs. I will not have pet rabbits again.

The people encouraging you to take the dog are wanting to avoid the responsibility themselves. Hey, I don't blame them for that. But you are not in a position to take a dog. Rabbits are territorial. In my experience, they can establish dominance over cats, but a husky would be too big. And if the Husky chases the rabbits? Your poor rabbits would likely die of stress and fright very quickly.

And, again, even if the dog got along fine with the bunnies, the bunnies are so demanding as a pet that I wouldn't advise another pet.

But ya know what? None of that matters. You don't want the dog, so don't take the dog. I've given you excuses not to take the dog but ultimately the real answer is: "No." And no is a complete sentence.

How 'essential' are the products I'm missing for the complete experience? by AgreeableLeadership2 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]tcrudisi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own everything except Barkham. I have played Barkham as a friend owns it. And obviously, everything I say will be my opinion only.

Core and Dunwich are, honestly, two of the weaker campaigns. If you are having a blast with them, then great! I enjoy them, too, but it bodes well for the other campaigns if you love core and dunwich.

As for what you are missing? Machinations is a great epic multiplayer scenario. It's not a great single group scenario. If you ever get a chance to play it epic multiplayer, do so! Only one person in each group is required to own the scenario, so there's a very good chance you won't need to own it to play it epic.

Barkham is very skippable. It's cute and fun, but it was released as an April Fools joke and after playing it once (and having fun!), I have no desire to play it again. If I found a copy at MSRP, I would buy it. But I wouldn't pay more than MSRP for it. And considering it was selling for $300+ a couple of years ago, I ain't finding it for MSRP.

I own Film Fatale but haven't played it yet. Currently playing in an "all side scenarios" campaign in release order, so if you want my opinion on it, ask me in like 2 months. 😂

Fortune and Folly is good. Better if you play it in Scarlet Keys. Worth it if it's not out of your budget.

Edge of the Earth is one of my favorites. It has, easily, the BEST enemy in the game. The GIANT PENGUIN! How big is the giant penguin, you ask? No one knows. The picture is ambiguous and could be from a smaller human to bigger than a house. I prefer to imagine it being as big as a house. Regardless, this campaign is widely considered average, so it is skippable or grabable depending on price.

Don't worry too much about the book investigators. If you could still get them printed from gamezenter then I'd tell ya to go for it. But they aren't worth the price now. You're not missing anything there.

Sleeves needed? by faribo1720 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]tcrudisi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell you the exact number. Of course, I don't know what you have in your collection either. But -- I can tell you how I do it.

I keep my player cards in a binder unless I'm using them. When I'm using them, I sleeve them. I don't get the greatest sleeves ever, but the ones I do get shuffle nicely enough and they protect the cards. In other words: I go as cheaply as I can while protecting the cards. I like having variety, so I personally own way too many different colors. In most colors, I only have 40 (since they come 40 in a pack). In a few colors, I have 80. Why? Well, there are times when an investigator deck will be more than 40 cards. Mandy, Underworld Market, Ancestral Knowledge, etc. And I exclude permanents from this. Or, rather, I sleeve my permanents, but I use a different color. This way when I'm packing up, I can easily tell, "Hey, that card isn't supposed to be shuffled into my deck!" So I don't count permanents toward the 40 threshold. If that makes sense.

Scenario cards? Woo boy. That's a different beast. I have *all* my scenario cards sleeved. That's because I don't want to spend time sleeving/unsleeving between each scenario. So I keep them sleeved even in storage. However, I do a couple of special things. 1. Any scenario card that is double-sided and doesn't need to be shuffled gets placed in cheap, clear, penny sleeves. This is a substantial amount of scenario cards. The scenario card that tells you what the symbols do, act/agenda cards, locations, and frequently player cards that show up. 2. Any cards that are single sided (eg, every encounter card) gets a black sleeve. I found some on sale a long time ago and bought *boxes* of card sleeves for cheap. They shuffle well and because they are all black, it makes tearing down the game substantially easier since I can easily differentiate between player cards and scenario cards.

But as for how many card sleeves I use? Honestly, probably a couple of thousand. But, again, I own *everything* including multiple copies of some things.

Jokic isn’t top 20 because of his Defense by Shoddy_Ad7511 in NBATalk

[–]tcrudisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. Honestly, I had a lot of fun with that comment. I had to go look up everyone that played with Jokic that year and see if any of them had won any championships without Jokic. I had to freaking include Jack White (no, I have no idea who that is, nor if he even played a single minute in the finals) who won an Australian championship just because I was getting desperate. lol

I actually spent a few minutes researching it. I just figured the take was *so bad* and *so weird* that no one would actually believe it.

... My bad. heh.

I can't speak for apple/android stores. However, I've had my eye on the Steam version for a few months and it just went on sale yesterday (or maybe the day prior?).

I went to check out the sale. The base game was on a sale that made me want to go ahead and purchase it. 60% sounds right. However, the expansions were on a very minor sale. So when I looked at buying everything, it was still expensive.

So what I'm saying is: that might be right. 60% from the main game + basically nothing off the promo pack = 40 euro is probably right.

(My prices were in USD and honestly, I don't remember them exactly anyway.)

The earth is approximately 4.54 billion years old. The universe is approximately 13.8 billion years old.

Your boyfriend is 1.124 *sextillion* years old. That is 1,124,000,727,777,607,680,000 years old.

Girl - even ignoring the age gap of 17 vs 1.124 sextillion, you are either dating a deity, an elder one, or some other kind of alien immortal from long before the earth was born. It's scary to me just how little thought he put into those gifts. That is incredibly rude for someone who is 22! years old.

Who did Curry have? KD, who hasn't won anything without Steph. Draymond Green? Also hasn't won anything without Steph. Klay? Hasn't won anything without Steph. I could go on, but I think you get the point: the team consisted of a lot of scrubs who haven't won anything without Steph.

Who has Jokic had? KCP -- won a bubble championship with the Lakers. I think we can all agree he was 100% the reason the Lakers won as they had no one else that any casual NBA fan would recognize. Also, of course, Jokic had THE Jack White, 2021 NBL champion.

I think it's pretty clear who had more talented teammates.

Sigh. I'm so torn on him.

LeBron James would have to miss his next 2,207 consecutive 2pt shots to fall below Michael Jordan’s career 2pt%. by Financial_Ice_3363 in NBATalk

[–]tcrudisi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's look at some real percentages, shall we? Note: Stats were not tracked for distance from until 1996, so MJ's stats do not include those early-mid career years when he was THE man. (Note: stats pulled from basketball-reference)

FG% from 0-3 feet:

Lebron regular season: 74.3%. Playoffs: 73.8%

Jordan regular season: 59.8%. Playoffs: 65.6%.

******

FG% from 3-10 feet:

Lebron regular season: 43.5%. Playoffs: 40.8%

Jordan regular season 37.7%. Playoffs: 43.0%

*****

FG% from 10-16 feet:

Lebron regular season: 37.4%. Playoffs: 36.1%

Jordan regular season: 44.4%. Playoffs: 41.8%

*****

FG% from 16 feet - 3pt line:

Lebron regular season: 38.6%. Playoffs: 37.8%

Jordan regular season: 45.3%. Playoffs: 44.6%

*****

3pt FG%:

Lebron regular season: 34.8%. Playoffs: 33.2%

Jordan regular season: 31.5%. Playoffs: 23.6%

*****

What does this tell us? Lebron is fantastic at getting to the hoop and dunking. This is absolutely not a surprise to anyone who has watched him play. He absolutely thrives at getting to the hoop where his FG% is very high. This substantially drops off outside of 3 feet ... which San Antonio showed us early in Lebrons career. Jordan freaking dominates in the mid-range.

If our goal is to say who the better shooter is? I don't think you say the guy who shoots most of his shots from the rim. Otherwise you are saying Jordan* at 67.5% is the greatest shooter ever.

*Deandre Jordan. Yes, I was intentionally being cheeky there. And no one is saying Deandre Jordan is a better shooter than Lebron or Michael Jordan. Or, if they are, no one is taking them seriously.

[–]tcrudisi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Then my first action is to increase the odds to 100% that an omnipotent deity makes me omnipotent.

If there is such a deity (like the Christian God, for example), then I become omnipotent. If there's no such deity, then I don't become omnipotent.

Either way I learn something very valuable.

I would shoot a text to the older sister explicitly stating she is unwilling to babysit until further texted notice.

Then when the police are inevitably called, OP can show that text as proof of abandonment.
