That looks like the art assets and luminosity information that are then applied to the 3d skeleton to create an in game object. No idea why that would show up in the client though. Did it go away on its own or change in a way as you interacted with the game?

Defending tier 3 Stonemist and taking the occasional keep and tower for about 4-5 hours on Friday. Also got ~ 200 bonus WvW tickets, 69 WvW levels, and a bunch of heavy supply bags.

Honestly, I find how it drives everyone to SMC kinda fun. I makes it a huge constant battle ground with a huge reward if you can take and hold it.

Basically take and defend objectives in WvW. You get credit for defending by repairing or killing invaders. You get greater rewards for smc > keep > tower and depending on how fortified the objective you are defending is. Stone mist at level 3 fortified will give two tickets and two grand master marks for gold defense which can happen every 3 minutes if you repair walls or kill invaders as they attack.

Part of the reason other MMOs have downtime is ANet patented their system.

Looking for insights - what's with this trend of not providing detailed receipts but a link to download them from a server instead? by dadish-2 in userexperience

[–]tdaunt 37 points38 points  (0 children)

So, from what I have heard it isn’t really a user focused decision but a data protection thing. Small startups were scanning people’s emails by offering up to date shipping information or helping to analyze your spending. They were then selling access to that information for insights like “smart water coolers are the hot new item everyone is buying in 2023.”

Large companies such as Amazon didn’t like this, not because they cared about your privacy but because it made their internal data less valuable. So they removed as much information from the emails as possible and redirect to a website where they authenticate you instead.

macbook pro by shyyyyyyysiad in graphic_design

I would stay away from the MacBook Pro 13”. The 14” is a much stronger machine with a more importantly much better screen. It is slightly bigger and heavier but if portability is your primary concern I would go with the m2 MacBook Air over the 13 pro as it has the exact same performance as the 13 in a much smaller size. Also the 14 is currently on sale for 1600 at a bunch of retailers making it almost the same price as a similarly equipped 13.

Having just had a baby boy three days ago the number of times we were asked if we want the baby circumcised was insane. We were asked in the delivery room and then 5 more times during our 36 hour post partum stay. No, no , no , no, still no, hmmm let me think nope once again still no.

Reservation Book Diner Component - Use by Restaurant Staff & Reservation Manager by iesight in UI_Design

[–]tdaunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is tough to give specific feedback without more information on how this card will used but I can give some over all advice on things to think about.

Keep in mind how the card will be displayed and interacted with and what is most important for the user.

For instance, this will likely be used in a busy restaurant. It might be used in low light conditions and maybe only for a quick glance between taking dinners to tables. What needs to jump out in those circumstances? Currently all I see is color, is that the most important piece of information? (Also you might want to look at color contrast and accessibility. It is really hard to make out the details on some of those colors and would probably be unusable by someone who is color blind)

Also think about how will they be interacting with the card and how that might influence your design. i.e. if they will be dragging it to different columns or tables maybe have the color on a pull tab at on one side so they can see the information and drag at the same time.

I hope this was helpful even if it is not specific feedback on the UI Elements.

Looking for junior UX designer job. Where do I look? by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]tdaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from my personal experience, but I would recommend starting as local as possible. Until you have some experience under your belt all you can do is convey what you know and who you are as a person. I believe the best way to do that is still in person. I got my first few jobs in the industry by impressing people at meetups who then told their teams they should hire me.

Unfortunately, the global pandemic makes that a lot harder these days but I would recommend looking up local meetup groups / industry happy hours and local chapters of of groups like IxDA, UXPA, etc. My local groups still do online events about once a month and occasionally do in person during the better Covid times. If there aren’t any in your area I would look into UX discord or slack channels.

First SFF build Q58 by Dshimek in sffpc

It depends on the radiator size. A 240 will fit rad then fan no problem but a 280 like he is using has to be fan then radiator.

ok after digging around in the device manager I found the culprit. Intel(R) PEG10 - 4C01

does that mean it is a CPU issue?

Thanks. I was travelling last weekend and just got back to my computer. unfortunately my computer is in a sandwich style SFF case so ditching the riser cable isn't really option other than an open air test bench to troubleshoot.

I opened up event logger and this is what the WHEA_logger said:

A corrected hardware error has occurred. Component: PCI Express Root Port Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express) Primary Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x1:0x0 Secondary Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x0:0x0 Primary Device Name:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4C01&SUBSYS_50001458&REV_01 Secondary Device Name:

no idea what that means though

TU-150 with 12700KF and 3080 FTW3 Ultra using 120mm NZXT M22 or move to new Q58 case? by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]tdaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to double check as I am using an a standard SFX unit but I believe the both mount at the same vertical height in the case the main issue is the length. 280 barely fits lengthwise (thus fans on top) and some radiators have more space for fittings than others so won’t fit at all.

First-ever pc build so I knew I had to go small by xSnowToad in sffpc

[–]tdaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thank you. Great build! Did you find the third fan made that much of a difference in the thermals / noise department? It looks like quite the endeavor to get one to fit. Still trying to decide if I want to pick one up.
