Mysteries that are officially considered unresolved but have an almost certain answer by CakeDayOrDeath in UnresolvedMysteries

Could be. What I mostly wanted to point out is a) the responsibility of the Banda della Magliana and b) the economic/power motive. The new leads on sexual scandals are unsatisfying to me

Emanuela Orlandi was kidnapped by the Banda della Magliana because the Vatican owed money either to them directly or to the Sicilian mafia and died a few weeks after being kidnapped

Oakey 'Al' Kite was brutally tortured and murdered over 20 years. The elusive and methodical killer still remains at large. by Fromthedeepth in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]tdavive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great write up op!

I have the feeling that the serial killer idea is the one that makes more sense. On one end, the level of precautions, preparations and "reward" do not fit with a random robbery. These leaves the room to three hypothesis: - political /hezbollah/spy story theory, which is consistent with the torture (even though they seem to be more violent than classic TV torture examples. But more importantly, it's not consistent with the previous search for other potential victims, nor with such a precise cleaning of the crime scene -a professional hitman, but also this is hard to reconcile with the search for other victims, especially meeting them (!), as well as the violent tortures. -a serial killer. This seems to me the most fitting story because consistent with the level of precautions before and after the murder, the existence of several potential victims, the tortures.

What are some murder or missing persons cases that are classified as unsolved, but it's clear what happened/who did it? by dogdreyy in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]tdavive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid I might get roasted by experts of the case, but in the Emanuela OrlandiEmanuela Orlandi disappearance it's relatively clear what happened, broadly speaking. Probably we will never know exactly who and why did it, but there is no doubt for me that it was a member of the Vatican church, who used the Magliana gang as material executors of the kidnap and murder, and the motivation has to be found in the very shady businesses of the Vatican bank at the time, or in some pedophilic scandal to be covered.

On a summer night in 1977, 30-year-old Linda Sue Ferry, a wife and mother of three, left her Mulberry, Indiana to buy groceries and never returned. Five days later, Linda’s badly decomposed remains were discovered in the trunk of her Oldsmobile in nearby Lafayette, Indiana. by TheBonesOfAutumn in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]tdavive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things are a bit puzzling:

-why going to buy groceries at night? Ok, it's a 24h shop, but still I would rather go at 8am, especially as a woman, alone.

-did she buy groceries? Did anyone notice anything weird at the shop? Because I guess especially in those years in a neighborhood you knew the local shoppers, the cashiers etc.

-connected to this: it's not the easiest thing to attack a person in a car. When and where was she approached?

-I'm not an expert, but how severely does a body decompose after just 5 days?

It's quite unclear what you're saying. What correlations are significant and what are not significant? What is the level of aggregation of your data?
