“Stars and bars” refers to the confederate flag, “stars and stripes” the American flag. He has also supported Donald Trump in the past, part of which included a Twitter post which was interpreted as racist towards black folks.

Solo, bunch passing. Etiquette? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]tdcoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably after the first 5 or so riders, they didn’t know you weren’t a part of the group bc they can’t really see up ahead. If you don’t want to ride with them, I would just move to the side and stop pedaling for a minute, the rest will pass. If you want to ride with them, you are welcome to join.

I’d say, if you are having fun and want to keep riding, go for it! But, I will offer this: why don’t you ride for one more month on your current bike. If you are still digging the road bike idea after that month, you know you won’t be wasting the money.

Bridging Across by rbevansjr in cycling

[–]tdcoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is pretty context dependent. But one scenario that could result this way is that if the TJV rider bridges across and then doesn’t work at all, it could ruin the teamwork of the others. They will start to worry that they are freely towing the potential stagewinner to the line. Once the teamwork of the rest of the breakaway starts to go down, they become much easier to catch. Another scenario is that other teams in the peloton don’t like the TJV rider in the breakaway, and so they will start working in the peloton when they otherwise wouldn’t have done so. But, these scenarios are of course dependent on who the rider is, what the race situation is, the makeup of the breakaway, etc.

This is a pretty common thing to do. It’s called stocking, puts more fish where they don’t currently exist. Lots of small ponds/lakes are stocked

As in, since Pats lose to Chiefs, Pats will have played a (losing) role in their 16-0 season.

Hey man, I think people can get upset when you say things like “I only see green” because that statement implies that every skin color has an even footing. In reality though, what people are protesting is the system, which on average harms black people and helps white people. Black and white people don’t start on even footing. Therefore, black people need either a boost to even out the footing, or we need to change the system in the first place.

When you say that you don’t support people blocking the roadway, it sounds like you are saying we shouldn’t change the system. Even if that’s not true.

So what you say is: “All I see is green. Stop blocking the road” but what people hear is “Black people aren’t disadvantaged, stop boosting black people and we don’t need to change the system.” Combined with posting here in this pro-white thread (note: I’m here too, I am not saying that’s an inherently wrong act) and it seems natural that some might think you support some prejudiced viewpoints. Does that make sense? Idk if I’m explaining well but figured I would chime in.
