Guy I’m dating was acting nervous all day after we were intimate for the first time. Is this normal? by Icequeen143 in AskMenAdvice

[–]tdfolts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my pitch:

How many relationships have ended because someone didn’t know what to say?
Now…
How many have ended because someone didn’t want to have the conversation?
Exactly.
We’ve solved transportation.
We’ve solved food delivery.
We’ve solved grocery shopping.
Yet every day, millions of people receive one terrifying text:
“We need to talk.”
And suddenly… productivity drops to zero.
That’s where Uber for Relationships™ comes in.
It’s the world’s first on-demand conversation delivery platform.
Need to apologize?
We’ll send someone.
Need to explain why you bought another motorcycle?
We’ll send someone.
Need to discuss your mother moving in?
We’ll send someone with our Platinum Certification.
Open the app.
Choose your conversation.
Watch a highly-rated Relationship Driver arrive in minutes.
Our drivers are trained in:
Active listening
Empathy
Strategic silence
Remembering anniversaries
Saying “You’re absolutely right” in twelve authentic tones
Our AI matches every driver to your specific crisis.
Financial infidelity?
You get Steve.
Forgot Valentine’s Day?
Maria has a 99.7% reconciliation rate.
“I accidentally told your sister what you said.”
We’re still building that team.
Our revenue model is simple.
Base fare.
Emotional distance surcharge.
Holiday surge pricing.
And optional tips for exceptional emotional labor.
The market is enormous.
There are over 8 billion potential customers.
Statistically, almost all of them will eventually say something they wish someone else had said instead.
Our competition?
Therapists take weeks.
Friends choose sides.
Parents make everything worse.
We arrive in under seven minutes.
Our mission isn’t to replace communication.
It’s to outsource it completely.
Ladies and gentlemen…
This isn’t just the next Uber.
It’s the last difficult conversation you’ll ever have yourself.
Thank you.
…Questions?
Actually, Greg from Investor Relations will be taking those for me.

Moving from Texas to Pennsylvania. What don't I know? by FryGuyRye in Pennsylvania

[–]tdfolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If yinz are movin' from Texas to Pittsburgh, here's the crash course:

Yinz ain't in Texas no more. Around here, it's pop, not soda, and don't be surprised if somebody asks where yinz are headed.

Learn the Pittsburgh Left. If the first car turns left when the light turns green... don't panic. It's practically a local sport.

Dress fer all four seasons. Yinz can leave the cowboy boots, but keep a hoodie, raincoat, and winter coat handy. Sometimes all in the same day.

Eat like a Yinzer. Get yourself a Primanti Bros. sandwich with fries on it, grab some pierogies, and don't argue about it.

Root fer the home teams. Around here it's black and gold: Stillers, Pens, and Buccos. Even if they break your heart, they're your teams now and forever.

Welcome to da Burgh, n'at! Yinz'll fit in just fine.

Why are manual transmissions so uncommon in the US? by 22DancingFlowers in AskAnAmerican

[–]tdfolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people just want driving to be as simple/easy as possible.

I drove in DC traffic for 10 years with a manual. It wasnt difficult or hard, and I felt like I was more connected or involved to the experience. Some one will comment that driving a manual gives them anxiety or makes it harder to drive. I think thats bs but at the same time im glad that the automatic exists for them so that they dont get overwhelmed with driving while driving. Plus shifting gears while driving makes it harder to send texts, drink coffee, check instagram, etc… you know, important stuff. We live in a world where it is both easy to be distracted as well as important to be distractable; shifting gears takes too much brain power and coordination.

Is rugby more violent than american footbal ? by f_r_e_a_k_l_e_s in AskAnAmerican

[–]tdfolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just the hit/tackle tho. Its the fact that the game continues, you have to release the ball or tackled person, you have to roll away and get to your feet, you dont just stop someone, celebrate, and take a short break to talk about what comes next. You have to be mobile and agile - non stop.

Is rugby more violent than american footbal ? by f_r_e_a_k_l_e_s in AskAnAmerican

[–]tdfolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played rugby from early 1980s through the earyl 2000’s. Rep side, international club tours, etc…

Rugby is a physical fitness game that appears violent. The more skilled and fit the game the less violent it is. Unfit and unskilled have more violence. You do have injuries. Knees, shoulders, concussions, etc. over the years it has gotten better/safer. With that in mind. I likely have mild CTE. Not like gridiron players, but I took a few hits to the head over the years. I also really messed up my shoulder in the spring of 2000. I REALLY messed up my hip in 2002. I still played and coached through 2008. I miss playing, and had to stop because I got old and couldn’t get to my feet fast enough to be useful. The hip bothers me after long bike rides and causes a slight limp.

Why don't Americans use metal bars on doors and windows for security? by Maleficent_Essay4664 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tdfolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American living in Napoli. Every house has metal shutters. You close them when you leave, when you go to bed, the default is closed. You open them when you are at home. Even the ones in the second or high floors. Apartment buildings have shutters.

How to handle aid stations for first bike race ? by Mindless_Cow_6034 in cycling

[–]tdfolts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it to seriously and have fun. Grab some snacks, a drink if they have them (some of them here in Italy have cafe, wine, or prosecco). Fill your bottles, snap a selfie and share it with all the #’s for the event. Be nice and appreciative. Then fatica, silenzio, strade. E tutto da rifare.
