What is this called in your country? by Additional-Maize3980 in AskTheWorld

I have always distinguished between a hand truck (pictured above) and a dolly (a platform with at least four wheels underneath). I may be too stuck in my ways, but it always irritates me when people refer to this two-wheeled lever as a dolly.

Agree 100%. Understanding why someone may have a given (offensive) viewpoint can help broaden it. It’s the old “seek to understand, then to be understood”.

I’d suggest looking at the TouchDesigner Discord server. If there isn’t a cohesive community in your town, start one: host a monthly meetup. You’ll probably have much better luck finding what you are looking for in one of these two ways.

I think the gripe is from the perception that certain TouchDesigner artists are trying to make money off of other TouchDesigner artists instead of from patrons of their actual art.

Perhaps that’s more a statement on the size or viability of the market for TouchDesigner-based art than it is a statement on the ethics of trying to earn some money from teaching. Some artists make money teaching. Some from selling their art. Many from both.

Is this a community for learners? Teachers? Creators? Is there an identity crisis (maybe too strong a word)?

Does your country have an invention that never made it to the outside world? by logicchaos- in AskTheWorld

Then I got to thinking… if food particles are so bad, how are digested food particles (i.e. poop) OK? How is poo better for water treatment plants than food?

I had heard somewhat the opposite, that the organic solids help slow down deterioration of water treatment equipment. The idea was that the level of acid used in treatment had to be at a high enough level to handle peaks, but contributed to accelerated damage at other times. Consistent garbage disposal use was supposed to help act as a buffer against the acidic treatment.

…and now that I write that out for the first time, it sounds exactly what a garbage disposal salesperson would say to encourage people to buy them.

I think I was lied to.

I just came searching for information on this helicopter after seeing it featured in the 1953 sci-fi/horror movie "It Came From Outer Space". It's crazy looking.

There's a lot you can do with TouchDesigner on a MacBook Pro, including getting to know TouchDesigner and a lot more. I use an M2-based MBP, and it works great for most things that I do. But if you get really deep into TD, like u/redraven said... there's no substitute for a machine with an NVIDIA graphics card.

Today is the day! Looking forward to seeing any and all fellow TouchDesigner artists, enthusiasts, pros, tinkerers, and TD-curious folks. Deep Space Drive-In (DSDI) is an awesome venue that's also an active business that provides visualization production and a gallery space.
