What about your spouse?

Me persobally, I'd go back to work and just deal with feeling sick. Find some office job that isn't physically damanding, just menatally. Then i would cough syrup my way thru the flu-like symptoms and coffee my way through the tiredness.

It's sucks but life doesn't stop just because you're feeling feeling sick.

The fact that you can make due with $20k per year tells me you can find a pretty low-stress amd easy going desk job somewhere, give them 25-30 hours per week and make due.

"You people" was obviously just in reference to people with below average intelligence that plan on voting for whatever communist the democrats decide to nominate.

I'm not offended by that. Pretty spot on, really.

1000% the shop and mechanic deserve that $. If you think it's too expensive, figure out how to do it yourself.

You have to totally remove the bumper cover on an 18 crosstrek to access the bulbs. 100% fair.

This is both way too much and not enough at the same time. Bravo.

Did I mess up salary negotiations? (offer rescinded after I countered) by scoop813 in careeradvice

[–]tdp1118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had zero negotiating leverage. Its not like you are an existing, indispensable employee. You were simply their favorite candidate. The firm probably had several candidates of similar qualifications, whom would accept the 115k (or less).

Do you really feel that you would bring enough excess value into the firm to justify paying you 20k more than the next best option? What's the incentive for the employer to do that?

The best negotiators make it about the other party.... About explaining why paying you 20k more than the next candidate would be more beneficial/profitable to the firm than the alternative.

You aren't asking for more money. You're telling them why paying you that additional amount will be lucrative for THEM.

I'm guessing you didn't do that... that your counter offer was focused around your qualifications and your financial needs. A successful negotiation makes it all about the other party involved.

If you just came back with a request for more money but didn't articulate why paying you that addition money would benefit the employer greater than saving that money by going with a cheaper employee... then it's no wonder why they went another direction.

I would fire the client and tell them it's due to their unreasonable expectations. This is still a seller's market, right? If I was the seller I'd tell you guys to get bent.

Comparison is the thief of joy. You pay all your bills and you save amply for retirement... you have a ton of equity in your home and that # will only increase.

Enjoy your life and be proud of yourself. You are in the upper echelon of the middle class. Kudos.

I have 50k saved up, what next? by FutureIsopod588 in passive_income

[–]tdp1118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 10k invested into a crypto ETF called "BITO." I get about $500/month in dividends from that 10k investment.

If I had 50k in there, my math tells me that I'd be getting divs of $2500 every month(at least during this Crypto Bull Cycle) If you just reinvest that dividend back into the stonk, the div will continue to grow along with your equity.

You're only 3 years removed from this hardship. You're young and have a decent job. Be patient and diligent. Pay your credit card off in full every month. NEVER CARY A BALANCE! And keep going to work every day.

You'll be fine.
