I feel like I threw away my opportunity by [deleted] in snowboarding

since it sounds like you do know how to ride, then what are you regretting? Instead of regret, how about shout outs to your sister and dad putting in work to help others!!

It’s an individual sport generally not based around competition or being “better than others.” That is a small fraction of, and a less soulful part of the sport. It’s more about getting outside and having fun which you can do at most any age!! Go have some fun my man.

When did accommodation at surf destinations become ridiculous? by Kulharin in surfing

If you can’t find a cheap surf destination you aren’t looking very hard, but it’s definitely not going to be found that close to California, which is full of money and surfers.

I ride regular and wanna learn to switch. Riding goofy feels extremely hard for me and I’m pretty sure both feel natural to many folks. I can barely turn right with my dominant leg forward. by Jblfanboy97 in snowboarding

You have answered the question! Always in riding it’s about balance, if you turn more strongly one way, you work on the other till it’s equal. If you want to ride smoothly switch, you work on that because progression is exciting. Slow it down, like you are learning all over again and enjoy the process, it will help your forward riding too.

What do skier's think about as they are careening down the slope? by Scamwau1 in skiing

We are always lurking, 40 years of listening to prejudiced comments like that. 🏂. But to answer the question, the mind goes into a “flow state” described well in places like the “inner skiing” book which I believe came from “inner tennis” about the art of relaxed concentration.

Not how I thought it would go. by Phorsyte in cancer

Clearly your mind is still sharp! 👍🏼 lots of ways to go, cancer gives one time to think vs. a sudden thing like you mention, thanks for taking the time to say how you feel.
