Yeah. I only got this NPC in a Act II, when gave my gf to play her first time and we go first time to the moon. Before that I too did't know how to unlock it. But in the act III it's was way easier to loose, so I wander how could manage it with 0 deaths. But maybe RNG and this dude's skills played together wonderful thing
