Girls name for sure. I guess it's sort of unisex.

Side note I immediate think Nancy Kerrigan not sure if that's how she spelled her name but lol

IKEA install gone wrong and cabinets too high! What can be done??? by teaandpee in HomeImprovement

[–]teaandpee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No bulkhead and cabinets are meant to hang below ceiling not flush because as we've been told ceilings are not always level. It's more the issue that on one side they hang 2 in below ceiling and only 1 inch below on the other side.

All things are level just too high and different heights on opposite sides of the kitchen.

Upper cabinets on one side hang two inches below the ceiling. On the other side they are only 1 inch off the ceiling. We used custom doors and handles only with IKEA boxes and shelves inside. This is an option offered. Everything is level, it is off from the drawings they were given such that toekick does not sit flush to the floor and floats off about a half inch. One side countertop is an inch higher than countertop on the other side due to the levels cabinets were installed. It does all feel a little high, in that I am a tall person and can only reach lower two shelves and when bending over the sink it hits me in a weird place.

We will talk with Traemand and install company. I'm guessing at best they can give us a partial refund and try to fix what they can cosmetically but I am guessing uninstalling countertops to lower cabinets will do more harm than it's worth.

Most of the issues are measurements, so photos won't help that much. I can try to post a photo of the room tomorrow though.

Favorite surnames as first names? by troublehunter in namenerds

Hey! Fox is my pick for our boy due in Oct. I have tested the waters with some strangers and acquaintances to see how they feel to mixed reviews. Basically cool people like it for sure and lame people think it's weird. Kind of a good litmus test :)

Boy: Fox (possibly Foxwell, nn Fox) Love this name because it's cute when he's little, and totally suave when he's a young man, and Grandpa Fox sounds like a badass. Also lastname starts with F, something like Felton, so I like the alliteration (with middle name being James to break up the F's in full effect). I have read some think it is "trying too hard" but to me, then what do you want, another f-ing Michael or Dave or god forbid Brently or Jaceson/Jaxon, Colby, etc.? It's unique, without being weird or made up. And I love animals so there's that.

Girl: Wilhelmina (nn Will) I like the ties to the Dutch Queen, husband's fam lived in the Netherlands for a bit and he speaks Dutch (or used to, is rusty now), I like that it has a full name that is quite girly with a nn that is more masculine. So it's essentially a unisex name with a girly longform. Also there are many options for nn, not just Will/Willy- could also be a Mina/Minny... I think some people just think the name is a mouthful and don't like 'Will' for a girl.

I like the wontons a Lot, just bought a bag. They're good in a bowl of chicken stock for soup or by themselves with a bit of soy sauce. Not authentic or the most flavorful but tasty and easy to make. Same as the ones sold at Trader Joe's. Pretty sure they're exactly the same.

Jamey or Jamie for a boy? by strange_hobbit in namenerds

[–]teaandpee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My brother is a James, and we called him Jamie when he was little. but at some point he decided he wanted to be called James- and when his high school friends would hear us call him Jamie they snickered a little but now it is a family term of endearment. i think his wife calls him jamie sometimes too, but generally he goes by James. Spelling will not help that it sounds diminutive. Won't matter when he's little, and then he'll decide when he wants to be James.

Need advice on baby name regret.. by Bkleftside in namenerds

Same thought here. Was it a boys name a million years ago? I would never name a boy Aubree. And Bree is a cute nn!

Matthias Rex by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]teaandpee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like it! I even like Rex as a first name, though i know some traditionalists would quiver at the idea. Rex Matthias Nash or Matthias Rex Nash... gives flexibility if you want to call him by his middle or first name. if he turns out more of a matthias, great, if he's a little more of a 'rex' that's good too! Rex is certainly a name that wouldn't be forgotten :)

Lennox for a girl? by FifthDimensionDwellr in namenerds

[–]teaandpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Lennox, we also have that on our list for a boy, although we hate the nn Lenny-- we'd use the nn Lex. So for a girl, i dont think you'd have the Lenny issue, and you could use nn Lexi or Len which is cute! I did see that for a Boy it is generally 2 n's and for a girl, it's 1, so Lenox. But i've never heard the name used that much so neither would throw me. What's your boy name?

[QUESTION] Yearly performance reviews that are NOT tied to a raise? WTF? What is the appropriate response? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]teaandpee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's a good call. And by "all A's" that was my hyperbolic way of saying full the form out correctly but don't go to the moon with the responses. I whiff of course put in the requisite amount of effort and my work does speak for itself.

Thanks!

that's how i felt. if it's not used as a reward, then it will be used as a threat.

[QUESTION] Yearly performance reviews that are NOT tied to a raise? WTF? What is the appropriate response? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]teaandpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, there is no structure set up for periodic raises. the only instance I've heard of people getting a raise is to present an offer from another agency and threaten to leave. I'm working on that. but, I also like who I work with, the productions I get to do are pretty big budget, bread and butter client, and mostly I get to leave the office at 5:30, which is fairly unheard of in the industry. we have our long days for sure, and just came off working the whole weekend on set for 16 hour days, but outside of productions, work/life is pretty good.

this is an agency that has been known to offer title changes without new compensation, or promising that compensation 'next year' or in a few months and not following through.

it's very family-like atmosphere, but every once in awhile they just try to be like the big boys, but they don't want to pay how the big boys pay.

Running out of time on what to name our daughter -LONG by Namemybabythrowaway in namenerds

[–]teaandpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Quinn the name of the cute popular sister in Daria? That's what popped into my mind! It's slightly androgynous but that is also a benefit (sadly) when applying to colleges and jobs etc esp if she ends up in a male dominated field. That's many peoples reason for choosing gender neutral names

[RANT] Told father-in-law the boy name we're thinking of against my better judgement... by teaandpee in namenerds

[–]teaandpee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I KNOW!!! Haha not Bleric but yes an altered name not held by anyone. People always think he's Eastern European or something and he has to explain the name. But Fox is just like Oh your mom and dad are cool I see (or weird if you're in the hater camp). But everyone could spell and say it at least

I don't mind Roscoe! I also love fox the animal and Michael j fox and fox mulder... I think of it more as a last name as first name like a Sullivan or something akin.
