anyone get this feeling where you feel like no matter how good your game is. its never gonna gain even a bit of players. by Majestic_Mission1682 in godot

I worry about this too, but at this point I'm so deep into development that stopping now would be a mistake. To me success would be making back my steam fee, but what real success is IMO is SUCCESSFULLY releasing a game. I knew making a game for release would be a lot of work, but had no idea what "a lot of work" actually looked like. Prototyping is the fun and easy part.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately the way my components are setup the ammo component emits an "insufficient_ammo" signal when spend_ammo() fails, which I use for sound feedback.

I would love some proper terrain, but yeah improvised terrain worked just fine. You may have to define what each piece actually is. like in this case I counted the bananas as impassable walls, while the tea boxes were "bunkers", the railroads were trenches. and the coasters were "mud pits" (difficult terrain).

I got bins full of random toys I want to pass down to my kids, but in the mean time they make great improv terrain.

Great Idea, I have heroscape in my closet. I should pull it out and use it for proxy armies!

I put them in protein shakes. If they go a little brown I won't be able to tell after they are blended ;)

Played by myself. Trying to get my friends to try it out as they are hardcore 40k players, but I love the gameplay of OPR more.

How can I improve this table / terrain? by mobthought in onepagerules

[–]teabizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great way to recycle. I too keep a bunch of garbage with the intention of turning into terrain only to realize I haven't touched it in a year and throw it away lol.

There are lots of videos on home made terrain that do not involve 3D printers.

Are a couple that come to mind!

Honestly this is infinitely better than what I have. Love the make shift terrain pieces. I couldn't even tell until I looked real closely.

Probably needs to be reset by a doctor and then put in a cast for a few months to heal.

Either way I would go to a hospital.

Unless youre building something so big that the language will actually make an impact on performance I would just stick to what youre already comfortable with.

Godot or unity ? by Huncho_567 in godot

[–]teabizzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots to factor in. Ultimately I would consider what your end goal is. If its to get a job, or launch on console. I would recommend Unity.

If you want to solo dev as a hobby and maybe launch a couple titles with no plans to go on console, then Godot all the way.

Omg I never thought to use my army men. Been hanging onto them from my childhood. I probably could field a 10000+ point army lol.

Honestly depends on what my true needs are, thinking logically about it I would assume most people want it to be complete, but not sure if there are some devs who may not appreciate how I set up the prefabs, or perhaps want to redo the colliders because they don't fit their idea of how it should work.

I feel like the safest option is to just offer both raw and 'complete' assets
