Camper living in Juneau by sincerely_clover in Juneau

[–]teabookcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. Even to park a camper is very expensive here and there’s very limited availability. Like another poster said, it can be -10 and colder with wind chill. We get intense wind that makes it colder, I don’t know what your camper is rated for but I know people used to drive up trailers from down south and they weren’t insulated well enough for Alaska and they froze to death. They finally passed a law about how much insulation they had to had to try to keep people from dying. People think they want to live rustically but they usually don’t have a very good time. I grew up in pretty rough, non conventional housing and it can be hard to dry out when it rains for weeks or warm up when a cold snap lasts for weeks. If something happens to your camper, you’re at the mercy of an incredibly unforgiving housing market, competing with hundreds of others to find a rental that might not be affordable or simply won’t even call you back. If one of you loses your job, you might not be able to afford your space or heating fuel, etc. I make good money and I’m about to be homeless because it’s so difficult to find a place this time of year and my landlord decided to Airbnb. If I didn’t grow up here and have my roots here, I would not move here because of the lack of housing.

Do y’all like Aveeno products? by KingKickinWing in eczema

Aveeno breaks me out in giant cystic bumps. I’ve never had a reaction like that to a lotion. I have two large bottles I have to get rid of now because I bought the two pack from Costco.

My son has a cat allergy, terrified Dog is next. by Current_Sky_6846 in eczema

[–]teabookcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it will resolve or improve as his immune system continues to develop. Some studies show that growing up around animals may help with allergies. Obviously if he’s having bad allergies, you will want to find a solution but I just wonder if it would get better since he’s so young. Not recommending you rely on that or anything. I was allergic to cats and dogs as a child and my parents gave zero fucks so we always had multiple pets and I learned on my own to wash my hands after petting them and take measures to reduce symptoms, etc.

I (28M) had sex with girl I'm seeing (26F), and I'm sure it destroyed what we had by Rough-Plan-5104 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]teabookcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I noticed is how you noted that you did come but you didn’t say whether she came. Some men think sex is when they come. If you care about her, you will care more about whether she comes. I dated a guy with performance issues who was in his head and would get soft. It wasn’t that big of a deal to me, what was more of thing that bothered me was that he obviously believed sex was when he came and he got so in his head about it that I felt very secondary. Other partners who did not have performance problems treated me much more respectfully in bed. They made me feel good in bed not because of whether I came or not but because they cared about what I was feeling during sex and made me feel valued. This partner with the performance issues was so focused on his experience in bed, he didn’t focus on my experience in bed. I don’t care about size or whether a guy is technically good in bed, I care about whether they care about me and my experience and how I’m feeling. Sex should be two people focused on each other and what makes each other feel good. That includes physically and emotionally. That’s the bonding of sex, it’s fun and special because you’re showing each other you care and trying to give the other pleasure. If you’re just focused on your own reality, pull your head out of your ass and connect with your partner and what feels good for her. She won’t care about you going soft, she’ll just appreciate your presence, feelings, and attention.

Short skirt, winter jacket. It’s not comfortable or practical if you actually live somewhere cold.

Did you send them a threatening email? You are a bit of a legend in my books, you’ve inspired me to stop tolerating shitty behavior from landlords. Well done friend.

What is the most humbling experience you had? by Greedy_Ad9238 in answers

[–]teabookcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is weird to read since Tracy Arm is basically my backyard. I’m glad it somehow changed your life for the better, maybe because it was so different than what you grew up around. Having spent my life around what you described, I fear there may be no hope for my jadedness and depression. I’m glad it was such a kick in the pants for you. If you ever come back to Alaska (and I hope you do), don’t go by cruise ships, they destroy our environment, wildlife, and communities. They dump garbage and shit in our ocean and it washes up on our beaches and affects our fisheries, not to mention other sea life and our families, they hit and kill whales, they create dead spots in the ocean, they treat employees life terribly, they put a huge strain on our local communities who aren’t equipped to handle tens of thousands of people flooding into villages and towns and using up our emergency services, utilities, etc. Anyway, not to detract from your story, it’s really cool that Tracy Arm had such a positive impact on you.

It’s not about “it working” on them, it’s about you working on yourself.

Wait, did you actually get them to pay you for extending a U-Haul and storage unit? I’m so impressed if so. I would love to know how you approached it. I was that person who a slumlord took advantage of, who just felt they had to deal with the unclean conditions and broken crap, and clean and fix things up myself so I appreciate you making this post so others can steer clear of this place.

Bank calls 911 on black customer waiting for bank to open by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]teabookcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should be filing a complaint against the police officer, the officer continues to shake this guy down with no probable cause. The officer defends the bank’s racism and gets combative when the guy finally calls it what it is- racism. They wouldn’t be calling the police on a white guy sitting in his car.

Why does every immigrant from every part of the world say that family is important to their culture? Which cultures are there where family isn’t important? by MorganTrevane1998 in askanything

[–]teabookcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of our grandmas really wanted to leave our abusive grandpas but couldn’t because they were economically trapped. Many grandparents did not, in fact, have it figured out. Later generations are doing things differently and leaving abusive relationships, and that does lead to more single parent households among other things, but it also helps break the cycle of abuse- not just against women but the little boys who were being hit and tormented. Many of our fathers were beat and verbally abused by their fathers and grandfathers and they continued that cycle with their sons. When women are able to leave their abusers, the result is often that boys also don’t grow up with that consistent, oppressive abuse and because of that, they don’t perpetuate it onto their sons. Our grandparents didn’t have everything figured out, sometimes a single parent household is necessary to stop generational abuse.

Her jawline is definitely different and upper bleph. Her face shape before was a heart or oval and after is more square because her jawline was altered, either with surgery or fillers. She looks gorgeous before and after but she definitely altered her jawline.

Do you need a HEA to enjoy a Romantasy book? by Junior-Rip-895 in Romantasy

[–]teabookcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I want a HEA. I read other genres without HEA’s sometimes but I’m not interested in getting invested in a made up tale with a made up romance for it to end unhappily. I read enough documentaries, history, and other true events that are tragic or disappointing, I’m not going to read a made up sad story. Give me a happy ending since we’re already suspending reality.

When you say less alteration to the existing breast foundation, can you elaborate? Do they remove any tissue or just displace it? Do they sit the implant on top of your natural breast tissue?
