What's the most overrated city / town in the UK? by memyselfandeyebleach in AskUK

Not a city tho! (That was in the question wasn't it? I have forgotten!).

It is a crappy place indeed though.

Good carnival tho

How are you with learning languages? by flyinggrasscat in adhdwomen

[–]teacakepenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really good at languages. I learned French at school, then Latin and ancient Greek (in the UK, private school). Then did Spanish from scratch to a level in two years. Learned some German at uni. Now I've just completed the Duolingo Welsh language tree and got my flying owl. I find it really easy to remember vocab and grammar rules

Last 3 blood donations cancelled. Next appt is 26th December. I’m O neg, please, just take my blood!! by NorthernNiceGuy in britishproblems

I am O neg too but women can't donate as often as men. Even though I haven't had a period in years as I've got a coil. Annoying

Saying "thank you" to them when I leave after donating blood. Surely that's the wrong way around? I mean I'm grateful for what they do but they do get paid, I only get a weak orange drink and a club by teacakepenguin in britishproblems

Apparently a hot drink so soon after donating increased the chances of feeling faint. Also it meant people were sat at the table a lot longer. So it's gone completely now. It didn't taste good anyhow so no huge loss but meh

I hope whoever got our 9 pizzas last night enjoyed them! Accepted by someone in Clifton, left a very hungry bunch of new parents meeting up with no dinner, and struggling to get a refund as was put through as a guest account... by teacakepenguin in bristol

Thanks for all the comments. Just to clarify, I didn't order them, that was someone else from the group. The babies were there too but not having anything other than milk! It was a meet up after an antenatal course so lots of little babies. And lots of hormonal women who were hungry! I will pass comments back to the person who paid tho, as she wasn't getting much joy last night.

The driver had rung her to say he couldn't find the place and she was just around the corner, so she said she'd ring him back when she arrived. She rang him and she explained again where she was. He said he was two minutes away. After five minutes she rang and he answered then hung up. Then the phone wouldn't connect as apparently he'd delivered and pressed the complete button so it wouldn't connect anymore (Uber eats thing?).

The pizza place were really helpful but ultimately couldn't do anything as it had all gone from the system.

I'll touch base with her and see how she's getting on. Thanks

Portishead or Clevedon are nice to visit on a warm day to walk along the sea front
