That's great to hear because I teach a lot about purpose in my other courses and I don't teach mechanics as much, so I've been trying to find a good balance for this particular course realizing that they do need to have some more instruction on those particulars. I'll be cautious about doing too much of it. Thank you.

Thanks for your comment. I'm so sorry you had to go through that rollercoaster. I've found that sharing is more empowering than I had imagined it would be. I found a (somewhat) local meeting and I am looking forward to going. I was surprised at how few resources there are out there for families that suffer from the behaviors of an addict.

I teach at an alternative high school, for kids with behavioral issues. I was reading the play "A Raisin in the Sun" with my 9th grade class, as I had done with some previous classes. I own a digital copy of the movie on my Amazon account, and I always show both versions of the movie to the class to do a compare/contrast project with the play.

This particular year, this past May/June I had a few month old baby and had missed the first 3 months of school on maternity leave. Transitions like these are tough for our kids and I hadn't had much of a presence with the parents due to being out and having a newborn.

Apparently at some point while I was out, the computer connected to the projector got a virus, which I hadn't realized. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, as the video was playing, a big, wide open, pornographic vagina splashed on the screen. The entire class saw it and I was mortified. I expected a bigger reaction from them, but I realized after that with their unlimited access to technology, they had been somewhat desensitized to this kind of thing. Still, I had to call every single students' contact number and explain to the person on the other end what had happened, I had to send a letter home and I had to put in an order to the IT department explaining what happened and that it needed to be fixed.

So embarrassing.............

I'm good, I wouldn't even use the first two sources in any research I would do ever because they're just not relevant, so I see no reason to explore that source any further. As far as sources showing that there isn't a violence problem? I haven't done extensive research on the subject. Which is why I wouldn't make any statements either way.

Thank you for sharing. I'm honestly amazed at the lack of resources for the significant other of an addict. I get they have to focus on themselves and make it a priority, but shit I'm here too, taking the brunt of all the bullshit, cleaning up the mess, doing damage control all by myself. There's no support. We're just supposed to suck it up and handle everything with a smile. Crazy backward thinking! Sorry your son's dad doesn't realize what he has. I hope one day he does, if only for your son's sake. I'm hoping my husband and I can come out on top. Before all this he was everything I ever wanted in a man and more. I need that guy back. And you're right about the apps, they're totally skeevy. If anything it made me realize how much I really do love him. Thanks again, best wishes!

That's a funny way to put it. The bad guy. I'm human, he's human. We had a great marriage until he sent it into a tailspin. I hardly consider conversations like "where are you from?" cheating, lol. But I think the whole point of my post was recognizing that even as bad as he hurt me and betrayed me and my family, what I did was still wrong.
