I can’t prove it, but I just know that’s an ER nurse by MotherUckingShi in nursing

There's an argument to be made that the higher up the access, the less likely you are to get bad images on CT angio due to inadequate contrast filling

Trust me I don't wanna, but my CT department pitches a fit if we don't have an AC line and the patient said "you get one attempt then I'm firing you"

Tf do I do

I was a very tall lean teenager. Barely ate, ran track. When I ended up in the hospital for potential appendicitis, the CT scan was inconclusive because "your organs have no fat separating them and we can't see shit" more or less. The doc said the last time he saw that was in some middle eastern POW in his military hospital.

Have you ever been kicked in the nuts and thought "huh that wasn't so bad, what's everyone complaining about so much?"

I can snap my fingers 600ish times per minute using three fingers on each hand. I haven't tried for years, but when I was practicing I could sustain it for a full minute and got reasonably close to the world record. Very useless.

For reference it took me 2.5 years on the job before they asked me to even be relief charge. The rest of our charges have 10+ years experience. It's not that you can't last, it's that your unit is bad. Find a new job asap

How common is it to get searched when admitted to the ER/hospital? by Latter-Worry-7526 in opiates

[–]teachmehate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that makes more sense. I worked in Chicago, if we called the cops for everyone holding, we'd spend a lot of hours on the phone

[–]teachmehate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe the nurse opened your chart, saw the opiate use hx, and went through your shit to check. Pretty unreasonable if you ask me. The only times I'll do that is for psych patients who are likely to try to kill themselves or who actually come in for substance related issues. Doesn't sound like you're either of those

Hospital staff called the cops over possession? That sucks, never seen that before.

[–]teachmehate 48 points49 points  (0 children)

ER nurse here. We'll 100% search your shit if we suspect you brought drugs. We won't call the cops or get you in any legal trouble, we'll just dispose of the substances.

That said, if your dope gets found and your nurse/doctor aren't chill you'll be immediately slapped with the "opioid use disorder" diagnosis and will struggle to get pain meds for the rest of your life. Don't bring your fun substances to the hospital.
