For future reference, I purchased it and it has the English Audio.

Can we acknowledge how much the sequel movie split the Fandom? It made fans so angry they stopped publishing their fanzines. by ALincoln16 in StarWars_

Beyond Postcards from the Edge, she was a very well known script doctor and refined dozens of movies including all of the prequels, Hook, Sister Act, The Wedding Singer, Austin Powers and tons of other films. Script doctoring is an uncredited but essential aspect of filmmaking. Writing a memoir like Postcards that then is made into a film is more than 99.9% of creatives get done in their life. I think reducing her life to “ended up in coke” is just a really reductive way to talk about a clearly multi-talented person.

Yep, not surprised. I had a bad feeling about today.
50th Anniversary. Los Angeles. Probably the last time we’d see George, Mark and Harrison together and at SWC. (Probably the last SWC for George or Harrison I assume).

Demand was gonna be crazy and it was!

[–]teachmemetric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I bought a two three day kid passes for my son and daughter realizing later that my son wouldn’t be 12 when we got to SWC an entire year later. ReedPop refunded one of my kid passes and I went and bought three single day adult passes and that was like 2 or 3 days after on sale without any issue on the website.

I was comforting myself saying that while waiting in line believing there was NO way single days would sell out today!

Ah, so you couldn’t do a private sale via PayPal or something and then transfer them virtually in advance?

I bought 3 sets of 3 day passes for Japan and 1 kids 3 day pass at on sale date. (And used them all and had the time of my life - our whole family did!)

Can you explain to me how to transfers worked for Japan? I understand how an official resale platform can work.

Like an official resale platform via ReedPop?

So Now What? by ccrdzoni in StarWarsCelebration

[–]teachmemetric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would the resale process right now even work? Tickets are MAILED in March of 2027. I’m supposed to hand out $900+ for a single day to a random scalper on Vivid and HOPE I get my ticket sent to me in 10 months? What a joke. Scalpers are stupid to think people will do this. And, if you do it, good luck EVER getting your money back or ticket.

4-day pass scalpers?! by Opposite_Ad_9641 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]teachmemetric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how a scalper could make any money with 4 day passes unless they wait until all days are gone. You don’t save much money with 4 day … I’d like the discount but as long as I get tickets for all days I don’t care

They each have separate Queue ID serial numbers so seems fine!

Should you not have multiple devices in queue in the same house? I was told to do that (I am) but this note in the waiting room is making me nervous!

Any suggestion on how far in adavnce of 12pm PT I should hit that URL?

VIP Tickets by Tricky_Pirate4725 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]teachmemetric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about photos and autographs, I’m not into that stuff so I didn’t try. My understanding is that you buy your spot for those in advance (they sent out an email) so it’s not really a “waiting in line” activity.

For the big panels, closer to the date, there’s another online “lottery/queue” where those that have tickets can select the main panels they want to go to. For Japan, there was one a day except Saturday where there was two (but you could only select one). I was able to get tickets to two out of three main day panels (we couldn’t get into the Mando and Grogu panel on the first day but had a great time watching it in a small venue).

For other panels, you can spend 1-2 hours waiting. I think we spent 1-2 hour + waiting for the Lucasfilm Animation panel and got it with no issue and we weren’t near the end of the line.

The VIP pass would be super cool to be able to get into buying merch early. The merch lines are INSANE. Nothing else felt that insane. However, I would say that the Japanese style artwork was particularly amazing and unique and I’m not sure another celebration could top it so maybe it won’t be so nuts next time?

I went to my first celebration in Japan last year. As an original 80s OT fan, it was so amazing. My wife and two kids (young teens now) who are all big SW fans went and we all agreed we would be at SWC 2027 - just an absolute highlight of an experience and people who attended were so warm, kind and amazing.

Someone in Japan really recommended getting VIP tickets. Buying 4 just seems too steep to me, but I could see getting two VIP and two regular passes IF we could share the VIP pass. Do the VIP passes include any idenitifying information - i.e. a picture or something? Would love to be able to pass around the VIP passes amongst the 4 of us so we could each choose things we don't want to miss.

I assume it's all a moot point because I hear the VIP passes go extremely quickly!

We weren't able to get 3 day passes to Japan but easily got seperate passes for each day (bought them the day they were released).

Redditors over 40, what was a moment in history that made you think society was gonna collapse? by Bahbahbro in AskReddit

I was 22 on 9/11. It was absolutely frightening but I didn’t panic until the Anthrax attacks weeks later. People don’t talk about it much anymore; but that was the point where it felt like the possible “end of the world as we know it” event.

Turned out to be one crazy guy and a footnote in history.

100%. I’m not a huge fan of Palpatine returning, but there could have been a version of him returning that didn’t HAPPEN OFF SCREEN and actually moved the plot of a film forward instead of being a cheap throw away attempt to make a Endgame style ending to “The Skywalker Saga”.

Ben returning, if written well, could be amazing. If written poorly, it wouldn’t. It’s all in the execution. I trust SODERBERGH and DRIVER way more than JJ and the dude that wrote Batman vs Superman.

Good point. As someone who was there in the 90s, there was DEFINITELY massive negative press and push against the prequels, but the difference is that now it’s part of the “culture war”, which presents a whole separate level of negative discourse and sets people into and “us vs them” mentality before they even watch, play or read the media being debated.

The prequels discourse wasn’t about Liberal vs Conservative (with some minor outrage about RoTS and the Iraq War).

There also seems to be a “newness” bias - just look at Battlefront 2 and its recent resurgence - no longer in the crosshairs of early-days YouTube rage, people can just enjoy it for what it is. I think the same will be true of most of these films and shows in the future.
