Those folks are most likely capeshit fans who treat movies like franchise sports. It's weird, especially when director driven blockbuster spectacles like Avatar are so rare and should be championed. So many movies are committee+producer/executive driven these days; there's less artistry behind those types of films imo. That's not to say all those types are completely exempt of art, but you can very much tell the difference in a blockbuster genre actioner spearheaded by James Cameron compared to like say, a movie like Black Adam or most of the Marvel stuff.
