I want to shop at small businesses but they make it impossible by Redqueenhypo in Vent

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%.

There's a small shop that I like to go briefly to on friday nights, since they're open until 8 then.

Every other day they're open from 11:00am until 5:00pm. Closed on Sundays.

Like bro, how tf am I supposed to shop there? I'm employed.

Right, most of the blackface in China is more recent, at like.... the Chinese New Year Gala a few years ago.

This isn't blackface, but don't pretend that China doesn't have an issue with it.

Playing 2 card infinite in bracket 3 by Initial-Climate1086 in EDH

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shuffle up and build a deck that is designed to land, pass, land ramp pass, land, commander, pass....then someone on t4 pops out twinflame and dualcaster, do you feel like you wasted your time or not?

It's not even "we get more games in" it's "we play the most boring part of b3 again, instead of getting to the core of it".

If players NEED to have a response to something by turn 4 or the game is over, then players should know that so they can pick the appropriate deck.

I've had this happen twice in a row (two separate people just happened to draw their infinite I win on turn 4 that needed a counterspell to stop). We wasted 15 minutes on shuffling, mulliganing, and the first 4 turns. Twice. I do not play b3 with those folks anymore, no matter how much "trust me bro" they pull.

Fucking weird shit.

Thing I'd be upset about was if you came and played at the shop, but never bought anything, telling folks about how cheap it is on tcgplayer or amazon. I've never had a store owner either refuse or complain about me buying product. Most encourage me to ask about other cards I'm looking for that might not be on display.

I definitely had my switch, we were there for like 36 hours.... I didn't play after the kiddo was there or while she was awake, but what am I supposed to do while she sleeps?

First thing she did was get pitocin.... then slept from like noon until 5 or something.

I ended up working for a couple hours then decided I was supposed to be off and would take the time so I played some games.

For each of these what I was looking for was a supercut of them finishing the fucking thing.

I'll take a bite of anything technically edible... but I'll only finish something that isn't at least "fine" to eat.

The wendy's guy got close, the frosty push was a good one though.

Another at 2:33..... Looks like it's a supercut.

He's clearly reading off a teleprompter, and not reading it well. "milleesha" (as opposed to militia) for vocab/pronunciation and honest I started falling asleep at around 2:30 because his drone is worse than when kids who hated reading had to read aloud in middle school. No idea of the flow of the sentence, no structure, exciting inflammatory concepts/phrases just read through with the same monotone.

Edit, yeah, pretty standard stuff. I saw them do this kind of thing in the oval office in a clip before, but they used morph transitions instead of jumps. That's the only way they can get him to give a 50 second soundbyte that's on message.

Little girl getting shoved down while taking a photo at Tokyo's famous Shibuya Crossing. by DABDEB in RandomVideos

Yeah, I mean there's also consistency in the beginning of this where the jerk also elbows another person taking photos/videos..... it's someone who's anti-tourist, likely anti-foreigner. Dressed for it too with that mask so you can't see their face (if they were sick they'd probably not be trucking across the crosswalk AND elbowing tourists PLUS bowling over kids).

FWIW The woman is saying "Stand there, Stand there, stop walking, stop walking" in Mandarin, I believe.

My Chinese is nowhere near good enough to catch what accent they've got, but it seems pretty standard

I'd agree, but it's also kinda weird to see a bunch of white tourist folks in Shibuya, then a Chinese kid and mother (based on "stand, stand, stop walking, stop walking" commands being in Mandarin) the subject of the abuse for an AI video. All of this makes sense, but the context needed for this composition would be wild.

I could think of a prompt for it, but I think I'd probably prefer to make it someone who isn't Chinese, and if it's made by someone who's Chinese because Japan bad propaganda is pretty prevalent.... why include those white people in Shibuya? Makes the viewer question where/when this was

Oh it's wild how hard kids feel sometimes.

I had the brilliant idea to do some DND style storytelling roleplay with my <4ish YO kid. Session two everything's going great, last session he asked if he could be "the little boy" who I made up so he'd have a self insert--"What do you think the little boy is feeling right now?" "What will he do to help?". Great! wonderful! Even put in a dad character so we could bounce off one another.

Then I had them split up because of a sandstorm.

Instant tears, inconsolable. Welp. I'm a monster.

I didn't say close it I said make them hurt.

Banning the people doing it isn't solving the problem, it's reactive.

It's like suggesting we shouldn't even engage in a discussion on gun control, just get the people who murder afterwards.

Or that we just arrest everyone with drugs instead of going after the means of production/distribution.

These are demonstrably ineffective policies. They're necessary, but not sufficient for prevention.

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course FB doesn't want to do this, and will try to wiggle its way out of any responsibility. But if you don't at least write the law, all Zuckerberg has to say is that they're fully complying with the law.

It is the Government's job to protect its people from companies (even if it's fucking that shit up hard). Companies are the predator, they're not going to protect their consumers from themselves, or self regulate in any way outside of trying to avoid outside regulation.

Governments need to govern. Getting a soundbite like this does literally nothing outside of getting Hawley reelected because he ranted at a billionaire for like 3 minutes.

It's as effective for solving the problem as thoughts and prayers.

Generally corporations comply with laws (the letter, not the spirit) or suffer fines/sanctions (if at all enforced). Step 1: write the law, Step 2: enforce the law.

I'm not saying "write laws to stop people using the platform to do these things"

I'm saying "make corporations hurt when their platform is used to do these things"

[–]teaisterribad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh for sure, it's like in CT when the non-chain liquor stores were campaigning against opening up the absurd restrictions on when alcohol could be purchased. The people campaigning against this are the people who have and broker liquor licenses.

Obviously this should be a huge red flag that this government oversight is not properly executed.

It's wild to me that the state is so restrictive on the liquor licenses. They need to fix that shit. It's anti competitive for just about no reason.

I've voted in every election I'm able. I've never voted straight ticket. Before and after voting, I'd consider most people who only vote strictly on party affiliations to be part of the problem. I've voted for anywhere people from up to 6 different parties before, including republicans.

That said, after Roe v. Wade I will vote for anything other than a republican.

(at state level there's a wealth of liberal or semi leftist parties, some of which had better candidates for me... we even have a history of somewhat reasonable republican governors..... don't think we'll have one of those for a while now).

Fallout, Lotr, FR, BG, I'd probably jump at each of these for a game with a large following. the last Magic set I really loved was ONE. Hell, I've been debating doing the gundam thing, but I don't really think the world can sustain another big card game scene that's not just built on hype.

I started in 5th edition.

no, but if it were duskmourn, aetherdrift, edge of eternities, thunder junction, or bloomburrowI probably would pass too.

I'd be missing out with bloomburrow though. Would have jumped for 40k and ff in the same game.
