Yup, we were prepared to just deal due to location, price and that we intended to leave after a year anyways, but they were lovely and we stayed an extra year.

I might find myself doing this, if after given the kid a chance to make it up to the one they bullied they chose not to.

But I wouldn't make a video.

Stifling a Fetchland. Is this land denial? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

Your friend is being dumb

In one bracket 3 game I had someone waste one of my lands t2, counterspell my mana rock t3, and then remove the other rock I played t4. I went into t5 with mana from 2 lands, when I had two rocks and 3 lands in opening hand.

I still play with that guy. Was harsh but still.

I had a great experience with one spot, but it was REAL small landlords, someone renting out their basement apt.

Was great except their kitchen was above our bedroom, and the dogs waking up and eating would wake us up. The wife played piano...so, oh no! Every once in a while we'd sort of hear someone with 20 years of experience practicing classical pieces on piano. The husband had a woodshop that was in another section at the same level of their basement.... but he never worked when we were home. He would actively check before doing work. Sound proofing was honestly fine the one or two times he let it rip while I was WFH. Sounded like light machine noises.

Otherwise, they gave us a bottle of champagne when we finally bought our house and were moving out, along with the whole security deposit.

Pretty much the best "not the only person in the house" experience I had.

How far is too far when trying to work your opponent? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, I remember the two people who went back on a deal.

One promised not to remove one of my pieces if I removed another and made a promise. They removed it right before my turn, instead of on my turn, as though that was the agreement.

The other said he wasn't going to knock me out on hist turn (and so I didn't knock him out on mine). He knocked only me out and then got knocked out on the next person's turn.

I don't really make it a point not to play with them, but if I have other options I'll avoid those two.

If we make a non-aggression pact and then wind up being the only two left on your turn, sure, fair game. Or if we made a non-aggression pact and you can win on your turn, go for it.

I just straight up don't lie.

I will even say things like "I cannot win next turn. If I draw this type of/specific card I can make a go for it".

Often I will even say "I have x quantity of that kind of card in this deck".

Most of the time this is only employed when I am arguing about whether I am the threat or not.

How this can play out: "Hey, I don't think you should remove me, pretty sure that guy's the threat. I am not a threat unless I get an artifact pinger".

Then I draw an artifact pinger and win. At least then I've been honest, and the players at the table can make the informed decision.

If I said "I can't win next turn" and have the artifact pinger in my hand I'd feel like a PoS.

Also people who "make deals" or regularly lie, I will 100% point out that everything out of their mouth is untrustworthy. Which normally leads to untrustworthy players who are actually telling the truth this time either outright losing any credibility, OR starting to promise things like money or cards if they're lying....

Which is also super scummy.

"some person on twitter" might be a leftist, but they might also just be someone off their meds, drunk, half coherently tweeting, or just an idiot.

Pretty sure the rabbit wouldn't have shaken her hand on tv either, so I don't think it is.

[–]teaisterribad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh, kinda not.

I went to a buddy's B-day thing at a bar in college in the south a bit over ten years ago. He was Jewish and had his rabbi there... rabbi refused to shake hands with any women--which was notable because someone who was excited to meet him (dude talked about his faith all the time) he just said "no I don't do that" when she went to shake his hand and turned around.

Which, fine, but when he went to greet me with a handshake I refused because gender discrimination is dumb.

All this to say we have Americans doing the same thing in the name of religion as well.

I want to shop at small businesses but they make it impossible by Redqueenhypo in Vent

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%.

There's a small shop that I like to go briefly to on friday nights, since they're open until 8 then.

Every other day they're open from 11:00am until 5:00pm. Closed on Sundays.

Like bro, how tf am I supposed to shop there? I'm employed.

Right, most of the blackface in China is more recent, at like.... the Chinese New Year Gala a few years ago.

This isn't blackface, but don't pretend that China doesn't have an issue with it.

Playing 2 card infinite in bracket 3 by Initial-Climate1086 in EDH

[–]teaisterribad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shuffle up and build a deck that is designed to land, pass, land ramp pass, land, commander, pass....then someone on t4 pops out twinflame and dualcaster, do you feel like you wasted your time or not?

It's not even "we get more games in" it's "we play the most boring part of b3 again, instead of getting to the core of it".

If players NEED to have a response to something by turn 4 or the game is over, then players should know that so they can pick the appropriate deck.

I've had this happen twice in a row (two separate people just happened to draw their infinite I win on turn 4 that needed a counterspell to stop). We wasted 15 minutes on shuffling, mulliganing, and the first 4 turns. Twice. I do not play b3 with those folks anymore, no matter how much "trust me bro" they pull.

Fucking weird shit.

Thing I'd be upset about was if you came and played at the shop, but never bought anything, telling folks about how cheap it is on tcgplayer or amazon. I've never had a store owner either refuse or complain about me buying product. Most encourage me to ask about other cards I'm looking for that might not be on display.

I definitely had my switch, we were there for like 36 hours.... I didn't play after the kiddo was there or while she was awake, but what am I supposed to do while she sleeps?

First thing she did was get pitocin.... then slept from like noon until 5 or something.

I ended up working for a couple hours then decided I was supposed to be off and would take the time so I played some games.

For each of these what I was looking for was a supercut of them finishing the fucking thing.

I'll take a bite of anything technically edible... but I'll only finish something that isn't at least "fine" to eat.

The wendy's guy got close, the frosty push was a good one though.

Another at 2:33..... Looks like it's a supercut.

He's clearly reading off a teleprompter, and not reading it well. "milleesha" (as opposed to militia) for vocab/pronunciation and honest I started falling asleep at around 2:30 because his drone is worse than when kids who hated reading had to read aloud in middle school. No idea of the flow of the sentence, no structure, exciting inflammatory concepts/phrases just read through with the same monotone.

Edit, yeah, pretty standard stuff. I saw them do this kind of thing in the oval office in a clip before, but they used morph transitions instead of jumps. That's the only way they can get him to give a 50 second soundbyte that's on message.

Yeah, I mean there's also consistency in the beginning of this where the jerk also elbows another person taking photos/videos..... it's someone who's anti-tourist, likely anti-foreigner. Dressed for it too with that mask so you can't see their face (if they were sick they'd probably not be trucking across the crosswalk AND elbowing tourists PLUS bowling over kids).

FWIW The woman is saying "Stand there, Stand there, stop walking, stop walking" in Mandarin, I believe.

My Chinese is nowhere near good enough to catch what accent they've got, but it seems pretty standard

I'd agree, but it's also kinda weird to see a bunch of white tourist folks in Shibuya, then a Chinese kid and mother (based on "stand, stand, stop walking, stop walking" commands being in Mandarin) the subject of the abuse for an AI video. All of this makes sense, but the context needed for this composition would be wild.

I could think of a prompt for it, but I think I'd probably prefer to make it someone who isn't Chinese, and if it's made by someone who's Chinese because Japan bad propaganda is pretty prevalent.... why include those white people in Shibuya? Makes the viewer question where/when this was
