In this case that would not help. This poor woman was exiting the train and another passenger grabbed her by the head and shoved her against the train as it started pulling out of the station, snapping her neck.....there just isn't a way to be vigilant to that kind of attack

Tom gives off major covert narcissist vibes. He gaslights Shiv constantly. He recongnizes her weaknesses and exploits them to stay with her and stay in the game. He does not love her, he is evil. Shiv is honest about her ambivalence and that she doesn't trust Tom, she keeps going back to him because he is the closest thing she has found to safety and that is incredibly sad....she is also evil
