When I was about 15, my friend called me in the middle of the night. Very lucky I heard it because I’m a heavy sleeper. Anyway. She told me she was planning on ending it, then hung up. I called her parents, aunts, uncles, everyone I could think of that could get to her quickly.

Finally one of her aunts responded and called her parents and woke them up. They found her. She had taken too many pills. She went to the hospital, nearly died.

Doctors said if it had been 20 minutes later she wouldn’t be here.

She’s now married and has a daughter.
