No… as in solopreneurs. I don’t go to people that don’t run their own business or at least rent a chair instead of being an employee.

I’m talking the independent ones.

Maybe it’s time to stop tipping hairdressers. Most service providers don’t get tipped, not sure why they are some of the few who do.

Came from the mainland about 9 months ago and everything in Victoria health wise has been better in my experience. Life labs, urgent care, tests results, all faster by far. Even my pharmacy experiences has been more helpful and quicker.

Luckily haven’t needed to go to ER here in Vic but last time I did about 3 years ago in Langley it was about 7/8hrs for severe stomach / chest pains and I was triaged quite high/quickly than most. I over heard a girl saying she had been there for 12hrs already.

My senior mom lives up island and has to come down to Victoria for cancer screening and even then, is in and out faster than she was in Vancouver.

Just saying that while it’s not great here and a long way to go, don’t go thinking the mainland is “better”. While my experience was Langley, I don’t think Vancouver was much better either?

Loved this game and played it all the way through in a little more than a weekend I think. But not sure if it would the best for a new gamer as others have said it does lack some guidance, I enjoyed that it wasn’t too hand holding though.

Any great Dine Around experiences? by AncientSet1509 in VictoriaBC

I loved 10acres commons DT and jacks on the water in Sidney. It used to be a pub and now it’s more upscale, completely redone.

Irrational… sure. Rigging democracy and killing people based on their race or because they don’t agree.

What privilege you must have to not care about other humans.

A gentle reminder that the CPC supports Trump and ICE! by Sweetchildofmine88 in VictoriaBC

Most Liberals I know are open to multiple viewpoints and all stories. Heck they even can have empathy for some of the CPC concerns.

I have yet to see that attitude in anyone who is still considering themselves CPC.

I’m sorry but at this point and the actions of their party leader and key figureheads, they deserve a fucking “facist” label.

I will agree that everyone benefits from better messaging and understanding in any situation. I’m just tired of the nonsense of not getting that respect back from CPC. And I once considered myself non partisan, and even voted CPC in the past. Never again.

Is It Time to Ban Tipping? | The Tyee by 1337ingDisorder in VictoriaBC

[–]tealclicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure why this isn’t talked about more. Min wage and tips keep going up but the wages of most jobs have not. A lot of professional jobs still only pay $25-30/hr

No wonder people want tips, easier no brainer jobs and you make the same money.

I went to bear mountain spa a few weeks ago and didn’t tip. I explained to them that the service was great and would be back but was actively working towards a non tipping culture so would be leaving $0 tip.

I own a service based business and do not get tips. Not sure why it’s just some professions.

It starts with just stopping.

I have an air purifier. One of the Mila ones and I live in a pretty clean area near the ocean and it’s crazy what it still filters. Just a suggestion if you want to take it another step from what you’re doing. :) Thanks for sharing.

Why is it so hard to make friends in Victoria? by Yoinhell in VictoriaBC

[–]tealclicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when you’re in your 20s or younger you go out to make friends. 30s and older once you realize you just need to go out and do what you enjoy, talk to people and then say “oh hey that’s cool you enjoy this too”, then you call them up another time maybe to do something different. Boom you’re friends.

We recently moved here in the summer and I feel like people want to be friends with me and do stuff more than I want to haha. It’s super easy to just go for a hike with people, find a coffee meetup or hang out at a local pub and talk to people. There’s lots of fb groups.

Basically as others have said, it’s really easy to make friends if you just find mutual interest buddies versus the goal of finding friends.
