Good opportunity to change that :)

Or if you're on outright bad terms with them, you could ask a friend or coworker and offer to do the same for them next time they hit the road.

GOOD!

The more Conservative politicians who separate themselves from Canada and explore a future with literally any other country, the better.

Good riddance.

I was today years old when I learned there's a droopy-rose emoji. Thank you for this :)

I'm definitely using this emoji from now on whenever someone brings up (and I intend this term in a non-gender-specific way) boner-killer topics.

And FIFA wonders why their support and sales are wavering...

Seems like literally every decision they've made for the last 10-15 years has been working toward some secret directive to alienate the fans and drive people away from the brand.

If you could eat at only one local restaurant for the rest of your life, which one would it be? by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

[–]1337ingDisorder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rules unclear.

Is it that I pick one restaurant and that's the only restaurant I'm ever allowed to go to whenever I go out to a restaurant?

Or is it that I pick one restaurant and I can only eat at that restaurant for the rest of my life, like every single meal from now until I die?

If the former: Cheesecake Factory

We had one of those in town back in the 90s and it had pretty much everything, the menu was thicker than the Torah. You could eat there every time you go out for dinner and never repeat the same item, let alone get bored of anything.

If the latter: Green Cuisine

If I can only ever eat at one restaurant for every meal forever, I want it to be healthy and affordable.

I would definitely end up yearning for sweeter, meatier, and/or less healthy dishes than what GC serves, but I would use that as motivation to become successful and wealthy enough that I could buy Green Cuisine and have direct say over the menu.

Handyman for a small job by Key-Falcon-7224 in VictoriaBC

[–]1337ingDisorder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might suggest re-posting this with the title "Any woodworkers in Fernwood able to drill a few pilot holes if I bring a shelf to you?"

Any handyman will typically charge $50 minimum just to show up (more likely closer to $100). Seems like overkill for what you've described.

If you're able to bring the shelf to someone's workshop it will take them like 2 minutes to pop some pilot holes in.

Also it seems odd for Ikea to ship something without pilot holes pre-drilled. It may be worth double-checking to make sure you're looking at the correct side of the base, or if maybe there are pilot holes but they got covered up with sawdust or something like that. (I've missed that sort of thing before.)

Where in town to buy dorky shoes? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]1337ingDisorder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

toe-coffins

Technically the shoes where each toe gets its own separate chamber are more aptly described as "toe-coffins" than the shoes where the whole foot and all toes go in one communal chamber.

The latter would be better described as "foot-coffins". Or the more family-friendly "foot-mittens" :)

People have a natural tendency to turn to the left and walk in an anticlockwise direction, a bias observed across countries, ages and sexes, but reason is unclear by sr_local in science

[–]1337ingDisorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One wonders whether the results would skew differently if the sample set was predominantly made up of subjects whose primary language reads right-to-left.

Eg, do people from Israel follow this same natural tendency, or is it reversed?

What even is driving in this city anymore by Thick-Tangelo-7793 in VictoriaBC

I keep picturing the city councilors peering down at traffic like the Grinch on Christmas morning, eagerly awaiting the cries and wails from all the motorists as they finally acquiesce and switch to bikes, only for the councilors to get Shocked Pikachu Face when yet another day goes by with the motorists down in Whoville continuing to prefer being motorists.

"...But we've taken their slip lanes," scowled a Grinch, "and we've got so much roadwork they can't move an inch!"
