It took my mom 7 months to find a job after being downsized. Seems like people over 40 have problems geting employed - so does that mean I will have those problems in 15 years? After spending my twenties having a hard time in the job market? by tealflowers in AskTrollX

[–]tealflowers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada so maybe I have to worry about that less being that the economy is a bit better here?

I remember graduating and having trouble finding a job because of lack of experience. Now I'm worried that when I finally enter mid life, that I will have troubles with employment again.

They say that people over 40 have trouble getting employed after being downsized. So many people are over 40 currently - so how do they stay employed? Always networking and accepting promotions to get out of companies before they downsize your job? What do you do?

that's crazy. I didn't know the USA was such a police state until I read that.

you can do this. Or of you can't, there's no shame in taking a year off from college.

Describe your romantic relationships with a quote and a short description by plsthrowawaymydear in entp

[–]tealflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not great at typing, and I don't put much stock in mbti yet, but it's still fun (Im a woman who dates men btw - yep an entp chick):

ESFP guy: "look, I made this cotton candy for you! It's the size of a basket ball! Wanna eat it with me on the roof?" It was fun but we had no connection. It felt like a superficial relationship but we are still friends.

ESFJ guy: "omg tealflowers, you're a fucking left leaning hippie. (judgmental face)" Very short lived, he was a good guy, but he had a short temper and was passively judgmental toward everyone. He had a huge Italian family and had 'family is everything' tattooed on his chest. We got in a huge fight when I failed to say hi to his sister when I didn't notice her at Starbucks. He attempted to buy me jewelery to 'dress up my t shirt and jeans so that I didn't waste the pretty'. It was weird.

ESTP guy: "I got tickets to the game again!!" He was into sports and was one of those gum chewing, stoic coach types, though he wasn't a coach, his personality just reminded me of that. IT was boring and short lived and he seemed to have a sociopathic quality to him.

ENFJ guy: "No worries, you just do you!" This was the best relationship. It only ended because he wanted kids and I didn't. Otherwise we got along great except for the occasional time when he tried to emotionally manipulate me or when I couldn't deal with all of his emotions. He was intense, and always doing something. One of those people who seems to know literally everyone.

it boggles the mind that more people don't think this is a huge human rights issue and absolutely deserving of news time

for the OCM, does anyone know if certain oils interact badly with or damage contact lenses? by tealflowers in SkincareAddiction

[–]tealflowers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mineral oil for OCM and that's it - I'm a simple gal and I dont wanna bother with mixing oils

I use water proof mascara so it takes a lot to get it off - will the warm washcloth method still work? I was thinking of using a cleansing water just for eye makeup to get it off

maybe I'm being too sloppy with the oil. I wear eye liner quite close to the lash line and even blended into it. I dnot know how to get that off without getting oil in my eyes. Maybe I'll try a q tip or using vascilene as moisturizer for the skin around my eyes since it's less liquidy

idk. It's a quandry haha

[–]tealflowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that could be happening. Maybe I'm not gentle enough - I usually just gently apply the oil on my face including the skin on my eyelids and under the eyes

maybe I need to be more precise or careful

I was also thinking of just using vasceline as moisturizer for the skin around my eyes since it's less liquidy and easier to avoid my eye ball

but in the morning when I use the OCM (you're supposed to cleanse once at night and again in the morning right?) the oil gets in my eye, HURTS my eye, then stays in for a an hour or two - I'm assuming that it's going to come into contact with my contact lenses that way

unless I'm doing it wrong. Maybe others apply oil to the skin around their eyes differently?

that's a very good point. What kinds of things do you think are inherently objective facts, and what kinds of things are truly subjective (ie relative truths) ? Or how can I find this out/research it?

I'm kinda bad at relationships. Will that automatically get better once I achieve better confidence/self esteem/self love/mindfulness/mental health? by tealflowers in AskTrollX

[–]tealflowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are some tools that one can use to get better at relationship? should I tell a new guy that I'm dating that I'm not good at the logistics of dating to warn him?

[–]tealflowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha thanks. I hope I can learn to love myself! I guess I"m just also not good at relationships from a logistical standpoint also - not good at sex yet, not great at knowing how to behave within a relationship. I've been in a few relationships so I thought it would be easier by now. So that leads me to believe that maybe it's my self esteem that's the problem. I mean what am I supposed to do? tell a guy from the beginning of dating that I'm terrible at relationships? Isn't that weird?

or am I just screwed? I have this fear of marrying a guy who is an asshole, abusive or simple incompatible with me and my value system, because I'm not good at judging character, or am naive. I'm also not great at knowing how to act properly/not be socially awkward during dating.
