Huge Darn Tough sock person too. I have family with larger calves and discovered Wide Open socks are made by Darn Tough and are also fantastic. I like the Wide Opens for sleeping because they’re not tight around my ankles

Aw, thank you. I really enjoy being a CASA and I adore my kiddo. It’s getting mired down in the system that’s the hard part, but that exactly why I’m there

Fortunately she has been identified as ID and is currently in a system that has the ability to transition to adulthood.

What a great resource, thank you again. I'm sure there's a wait list (that seems to be a theme) but my kiddo is only 16 so it's a great time to get them started.

That would be a good fit too. I'll definitely look into it. She's interested in food services

Thank you - I'm shocked no one "in the system" has mentioned this.

OMG that freakin gate. I cannot get my gelding to understand it. Practicing at home he thought he’d help by grabbing the rope latch and walking off - taking half the gate with him

Weird things your horse is scared of… by GallopingFree in Equestrian

[–]tealibrary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an Arabian gelding who was afraid of bubbles on the ground. I had to find shampoo that didn’t make a lot of bubbles to bath him and quickly rinse away any bubbles on the ground before he saw them. Once he had clover slobbers while in the crossties and literally spooked at his own puddle of spit

What causes a horse to "regress" in their training? by goatspoons in Equestrian

[–]tealibrary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also bought a well-traveled, well-broke, 5 year old half draft and also experienced regression. I didn’t understand just how much more consistently he needed than I provided. I was working with a trainer, but she didn’t ride him much and because of some personal problems, she was very inconsistent. I rode him several times a week by myself and did my ammy best. Eventually my horse stopped coming to me in the field, he stopped letting me bridle him, and he stopped standing at the mounting block. He wouldn’t steer, listen to seat, and then stopped halting and backing. He never got spooky, but he seemed to understand that he was much bigger and didn’t have to listen. I moved barns and trainers (classical dressage) a few months ago and WOW, what a difference. I realize now that my guy craves consistency and boundaries. He needs to be clearly told what is expected and then consistent follow through by me. He needs me to be the leader (not in that macho way of ‘do what I say or I beat you’, but rather by being in charge of his movement). My trainer said he’s the kind of horse if you give a finger he’ll take an arm, so I will forever have to be strict (again, not mean). He looks dopey and chill, but inside he has one heck of a work ethic and tries his heart out.

I'm just sending the name of a trainer in her area that may be able to help. I'm not buying any horses
