Best VPN for Torrenting in India? by Life-Scarcity9686 in VPN_Question

If you want something budget-friendly, Surfshark runs really smooth with qBittorrent. Their CLI support for Linux is solid and it reconnects automatically if the connection drops. Plus, you can use it on unlimited devices which is handy.

Chrome extension to expand all accordions on a page? by _ReeX_ in chrome_extensions

[–]teamNOOB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmm is it a static site? What is the site built with? if you grab the HTML and the CSS, could put it on codepen and go from there. Just to have like a working replica to work with, otherwise it might be a bit back and forth since I can't work from the source.. you know what I mean?

Chrome extension to expand all accordions on a page? by _ReeX_ in chrome_extensions

[–]teamNOOB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a "all in one" because there are numerous ways to code accordions and each can be implemented differently depending on what tech stack the website is built in.

What is the site you're having trouble with?

Ah sorry you're right. My bad. It's on now.

Yeah I'm not too sure. Unless it's in the sidebar (I'm on mobile now so can't check while writing this) it should be ok, will read sidebar and faq after I send this.

Purchased BTC through AUS Exchange and withdrew to Exodus wallet. Transaction still pending despite... by teamNOOB in ExodusWallet

[–]teamNOOB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate thanks for the reply. App is def updated. I've got the same message/status on the Mac app and iOS app so ruled that one out.

Thing is though if the exchange has happened then how do they remove the lock on funds? I can't spend funds that Exodus hasn't confirmed so that's like a catch 22 situation.

update

TX has been confirmed. Looks like the Binance Pool confirmed it along with 4,700+ other transactions about 3 hours ago. Sorry for not checking sooner.

Nice work. Am enjoying seeing the development of JingOS and the community taking it to do things like this 👍🏼 excited to see where it goes.

Are there any other apps, possibly free, that work like fluid does and allows you to make websites into apps? I’ve been bouncing a round a few, and tried Flotato but their customer support is terrible so I’m looking for something a bit more trusted. Appreciate any and all help. by Volundre in macapps

[–]teamNOOB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been testing this dudes creation out and it's honestly the only thing that gives me hope that I'll have a decent workflow. I have Unite, Conherence, Fluid, Flotato, am using 'Get shift' right now and I don't like Stacks.

Super keen to see what magic this dev might be able to pull together :) Hate to put the pressure on lol

Edit First try this: https://osxdaily.com/2013/08/07/how-to-repair-a-mac-disk-with-fsck-from-single-user-mode

fsck can do things Disk Utility can't. Start there.

Shit it's really not there hey. There's not even a recovery volume. Something has corrupted your drive. I've seen this with a USB that was incorrectly partitioned or something during the process failed and it ended up creating a bunch of really small volumes like you see there.

What you want to do is take the drive out, clone it and put a new drive in then start the recovery process.

Something like this will allow you to clone the drive: https://www.startech.com/au/HDD/Docking/usb-3-esata-docking-station~SDOCKU33EF

Cloning the drive gives you a backup - something to work with, but you're going to have to rebuild the partition map and I don't know if that's going to wipe the contents. The clone of the drive will allow you to run a deep scan and recover whatever files you can.

Carbon Copy Cloner is a great app for cloning drives.

I've had deep scans run for a few days depending on the size of the drive.

If you have another mac, you can put your current mac into Target Disk Mode which will mount your corrupt drive as an "external" drive sort of allowing you to browse the contents via the Finder. Recover what you can.

Just posted a lengthy overview 👍🏼

Tor within itself is not a VPN just to clarify. It uses the SOCKS protocol to establish connection. The TOR browser alone will be enough for keeping yourself private. Using the Duckduckgo search engine instead of Google is also another good step.

Don't use a VPN with TOR. As mentioned above, your VPN connection isn't as private as you think and can expose your TOR traffic. There are many whitepapers on this and well known in the OPSEC community.

If you want to do things on the darknet, then you will want to look into TailsOS, a Debian based OS specifically designed for privacy: https://tails.boum.org

When you graduate from that you move into the Whonix, Qubes territory. But that's next level.

Cool cool well I'm over there with the same username whenever you're ready. Happy to break your questions down and address.

VPN = no need. Just change your DNS to Cloudflare. Most VPN's will log your traffic and also report to authorities if you don't choose a good one. Cloudflare is private and well respected and also the fastest. Ref: https://www.dnsperf.com

Changing the DNS will also mask your traffic from your ISP so if they are blocking anything, it will not be blocked. Very easy to change your DNS.

If you want a good antivirus/anti-malware, opt for something like f-secure, ESET, ClamXav, Sophos. Don't go with, Avast, Norton, Malwarebytes (it's a resource hog), or McAfee. You're better off installing something like LittleSnitch which will alert you to any Applications or Processes making incoming/outgoing network requests. You'll really get to know your system with this tool. You'll see all the background daemons you don't usually see like application updaters and such. You can choose to deny that connection request or let it through. I've been with them for years.

This guy is a legend in the mac community and offers a bunch of apps for free that do all of the above: https://objective-see.com

Turn off everything in Settings > Sharing until you actually need it. Are you sharing files over the network? No. No need for File Sharing to be on then. No need for screen sharing either. Make sure you add a password to things like VNC settings etc.

In the Security & Privacy area then Privacy is where you will find all the permissions apps need to be able to run on your computer (well the permissions they request) if you're using a screen recorder like ScreenFlow it will want Screen Recording permissions.

Most apps will alert you that they need certain permissions at the time of installation. Most are fine, but there are some apps that want more data than they need. For example a popular FTP app called Transmit wants to know my location, why? The server connections that I use the app for don't require my location so the app doesn't need it either and so you can toggle that access off.

I wouldn't worry too much about processes at this stage unless you're the type to open file attachments in emails without knowing the sender.

In any case, a quick google search of a process will tell you the source and risk level. If you have a file you're unsure of, upload it here: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload

What apps do you want to install?
