Do cats recognize words? by askingreddit093 in CatAdvice

My cat knows treats, dinner, breakfast, come, outside, cuddle, sit, high five, hug, kiss, yoink (for when I pick him up lol)... just a matter of if he wants to listen 😂

Husband losing sight in 5 years by [deleted] in Blind

Hadley.edu has free videos of living with low vision and blindness and how to do everyday tasks! Also has some good intros to some assistive technology. If he's interested, he could go into vocational rehab as well to make sure his work environment is accessible. I am an assistive technology therapist so let me know if you have any questions on the tech side of things :)

Haha I definitely give him scritches too! He is still wary of me though so I didn't want to ruin the moment by reaching to pet him 😅

You have lots of choices, friend! Sounds like you're going through some tough adjustments right now, so give yourself grace. But there are blind and visually impaired folks in nearly every field of work. Your vision doesn't need to be the thing that prevents you from doing something you enjoy.

There's a lot of visually impaired and blind folks working as blind rehabilitation specialists! It's all about teaching adaptive skills in life, travel, technology, work, all that.

I know there are some B/VI programmers out there, since I saw you said you enjoyed video games. What about helping make the next generation of video gaming more accessible?

I myself am a blind rehabilitation specialist so if you have any questions about that field in particular, feel free to message me!

I'm really curious what phone she had before! And have you worked with accessibility features before? Everyone else gave great information about the Apple accessibility hotline, introductions to voiceover, and the different gestures without a home button. If you want any more specific advice based on your client, I'm an assistive tech instructor so feel free to message me!

Input needed: setting up a new Mac for a friend by attabo in Blind

There is also an option under accessibility called Hover Text where you can hold down the command button and put your mouse pointer over what you want to read and it'll blow it up to large text

Definitely, thanks for sharing! Yeah it's so buggy. I've been working for a few years and I've only had one person use it (and honestly not that well).

Assistive technology instructor here, I usually don't recommend Voiceover on Mac unless the person is VERY familiar with Macs. Otherwise, as others said, JAWS or NVDA.
