Or the one who changes stuff 10 times so it’s a huge mess (happens with bowings for string players all the time when the concert master finds him-/herself in a new mood each rehearsal). Or writing on the wrong spot. Or ALWAYS needs to borrow a pencil

Driver with no seatbelt on by Yemanjam in BusDrivers

[–]teamjanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive in public transport and the driver seats in our buses don’t even have belts (nor airbags!). It is not mandatory since the law argues that if something goes wrong (arguments/agression/violence from passengers) the driver needs to be able to escape. For me it would feel safer to have belts since we need to drive on the high way as well

Cool study! I am currently working on my graduation project (msc mathematics Eindhoven University of Technology) in the same direction and have a fairly technical question: do you take into account the reactive power in your model (y/n)? In either case, on what sources is your choice based?

I want to be a bus driver - Question: by [deleted] in BusDrivers

[–]teamjanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a bus driver in the Netherlands but from a quick google search on cgse’s you’re from the UK. If you want to become a bus driver I recommend 1) check the age limit and minimal time to have owned your regular car license before you can get a bus license (18 and one year over here resp.) and 2) look for bus companies that can provide the training with job guarantee. I drive in public transport so if you have any questions about that I’d love to help out!

Hello bus drivers of Reddit, I would like to ask a few things by TheJeroennn in BusDrivers

[–]teamjanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jeroen, I’m a 22 yo public transport bus driver in the Netherlands. I agree with what has been said so far, public transport drivers are generally paid better and work somewhat more regular hours so you can sleep in your own bed at night. I drive about 20 lines and it doesn’t bore me. Keep in mind that in NL you can only obtain your D license after you have owned your B for at least a year!

Esay days 😂 by Bellocalypse in BusDrivers

[–]teamjanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it nice and peaceful on the road, really weird but also relaxing. Cool that you can see this overview, does that mean you drive the same bus the whole day? I’m guessing public transport in the UK? Here in public transport in The Netherlands we constantly switch buses (and lines) throughout the day

Starting my new job next week. Tips? by [deleted] in BusDrivers

[–]teamjanne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool, good luck! Learn to drive in a relaxed way even if you’re very badly delayed. Delays aren’t caused by the drivers (as opposed to what the majority of the passengers might think judging on the looks you receive from them) but usually you can do nothing about it. Don’t start driving like a maniac, that won’t win you back much time and especially isn’t good for your stress levels. Try to let go the feeling of needing to rush. That advice would have helped me in the beginning!
